About Me
I occupy my spare time reading books, watching TV like Nat Geo or the Discovery channel and keeping up with people on facebook. I like to get a good work out in at least three times a week but I don't really like lifting weights. I prefer a good hike or a bike ride. I have practiced Chinese martial arts and I am probably going to start that up again in the next few months. I am thinking about becoming a certified Tai Chi instructor. Tai Chi is a great way to stay limber and in good shape.
I have a four year old boy who stays with me every other weekend and when he is with me I try to find at least one child appropriate activity that we can enjoy together.
I am politically slightly left of center which apparently makes me some sort of raging communist in Utah. If you are a passionate Neo-Conservative skip me. It won't be fun. Otherwise I am pretty laid back and easy to get along with. My biggest problem is that I am intelligent and well educated. Actually that's not the biggest problem. The biggest problem is that I know that I am intelligent and well educated. This means that I may try to give you advice. If you don't want advice; well you may have to make that clear. Other than that I'm a fairly normal modern man.
I am really curious about people and cultures. So I try to travel and I have some foreigners in my circle of friends and acquaintances.
When it comes to music I like a wide variety of things but I usually listen to Modern or alternative Rock. I liked Crass and the Dead Kennedy's when I was in high school. I went through a period where I really liked gangster Rap as well. Now I just like what sounds good and helps set the mood. I am a jack Mormon. Mormonism is my culture not my religion. I don’t go to Mormon activities but I cannot escape the influence Mormonism has had on my life. One thing I have taken from Mormonism is the belief that all other religions are in a state of apostasy. Unfortunately for my bishop I also believe that the Mormon Church is in a state of apostasy. I am skeptical about religion. So there is fair warning.
I think my best match would be with another disgruntled former Mormon or at least someone who knows what it is like to grow up in a deeply religious family and not have the fever.
Well that’s all for now. If you want to know more I guess you will have to ask me.
First Date
The first few dates depend a lot on the personality of the person I am going out with and where I think our interests intersect. For a first date I usually go to a coffee shop or someplace where we can talk face to face and get comfortable with each other. Second dates are much more interesting. All of the following are possible second date activities. Mountain biking or hiking up one of the local canyons Listening to live music Going to an academic lecture Target shooting, although this one requires a lot of trust. Whatever looks fun and is happening at the time. Like the State Fair, the days of 47 rodeo or a basketball game. It depends on the season.
