I recently moved to Portland (on a bit of a whim) and don't know many people here - I thought this might be a good way to grow my social group (and maybe meet someone special along the way)!

I think of myself as a happy, creative, fun, intelligent, adventurous kinda guy. Life for me is a grand ride - I enjoy trying to make the most of every moment. I enjoy the outdoors and am looking forward to taking advantage of all the opportunities the Portland area offers, especially now that the sun is shining (I'm a little afraid of facing the winter here - it could be a deal breaker).

I used to camp/kayak/hike quite a bit when I worked with kids years ago with the YMCA and would like to get back into the outdoor life. That said, there is certainly something to be said for hanging out on the couch for movie night!

I travel internationally for work so I'm in and out of town a lot. Recent trips have included Moscow, Thailand, China, India and Japan. This is quite amazing (I think travel can change one's perspective of life, the universe and everything) but it also make it a challenge to create and maintain a consistent social life.

Update - I'm having a great time exploring the area. Already tried lots of different kinds of coffee (but I think I'm a tea guy), had a snowboard lesson (I'm sticking with skiing!), became a member of the Japanese Garden, went to the crowning of a rodeo princess, got my fishing/shellfish license (anyone want to show me how to crab?!) and drove the Columbia Gorge.
