About me,...

I'm currently an Associate Professor and Department Chair at Palm Beach State College. I teach Public Speaking and Fundamentals of Communicaiton. I've been teaching for about eight years, and before coming to Florida a year ago, I taught at several universities in North Carolina. At those universities, I taught courses in Business and Professional Communication, Persuasion Theory and Practice, Media Writing, Conflict Communication, and Classical Rhetoric.

In addition to teaching, I'm also a professional speaker and corporate consultant. I work in the pharmaceutical industry (training sales reps how to sell drugs!) and I work with Law Enforcement Agenices teaching Police Officers communication skills.

Before teaching, my past life includes 12 years with Merck Pharmaceuticals. At Merck I was a Cardiovascular Sales Representative (had to leave that postion...my heart just wasn't in it) Gastroenterology Sales Representative (couldn't stomach that job!), Region Trainer, and Corporate Sales Trainer.

And...prior to my career with Merck, I spent nine years as a Police Officer in Michigan. I worked midnights as a Patrol Officer, Field Training Officer, Fitness Instructor, and I've worked with Police SWAT Teams and focused on their ability to negotiate using verbal and nonverbal techniques.

And yes...I'm originally from Michigan...man is it cold up there!!!

My hobbies include physical fitness (walking, jogging, lifting weights, biking, reading, fishing,) and I love both art museums (Rodin especially), and historical sites (name it...I've been there), and I love just going to the movies.
