Ok, I admit it - I'm a bit snarky, cynical and sarcastic. But think about it, aren't many of your favorite people? The quirky next-door neighbor is always a more interesting character than the leading lady.

You must live in NYC. Sorry, but it just gets too difficult trying to figure out how to get together if we aren't in close enough proximity to each other to easily grab a drinks on a Tuesday night or go for a walk on a Saturday afternoon.

The Basics: I'm a PR professional and have been working for myself for the past 8 years. Some days this is the best decision I ever made. Other days its the absolute worst! I'm really lucky to have a great group of friends who I see often. I'd love to say we regularly do unique and fascinating things, but mostly we go to dinner, drinks, movies - the usual stuff. Like every girl in NYC, I go to yoga regularly (though I really have no zen place), read a lot (a combo of the good and the totally trashy), watch too much TV (Weeds, Entourage, Lost, Project Runway, Nurse Jackie, Mad Men, etc.) and probably go out for drinks a little too frequently. Oh well.

I'm very close to my family, all of whom now live in Florida, though we are from CT. I'm a little in love with my niece and nephew, who are weird and hysterical. My parents are the most happily married couple in America, with the possible exception of my sister and her husband. Oddly, this kind of relationship seems totally normal to me and, though I'm a cynical realist, they prove that a great relationship is more than possible if you can find that right person who sees the world the same way you do.

I'm on this site because, simply, I want what everyone wants and what many seem to have found (a relationship with someone who I find funny, attractive, interesting, confident but modest, not terribly damaged, has opposable thumbs, doesn't live with his mother, uses punctuation, knows the difference between 'your' and 'you're' - just the basics). I think online dating is a decent introduction mechanism, but is not the actual relationship. I'm not looking for ongoing email or phone conversations. I think time spent over one cup of coffee tells you much more about a person than hundreds of bantering emails or phone calls. Oh, and I really hate the awkward phone call portion of this ritual! After a couple of emails, can we just grab a quick drink or coffee and skip it? I'm not sure when everyone got so terrified of each other that they need all these layers of protection before daring to spend 30 minutes in each other's presence at a public place! :)

I'm looking for someone who sees the ridiculousness and humor in this online dating thing and has not written in his profile the easy cliches that men think women want to hear such as loving long walks on the beach, being as comfortable in a tux as in jeans, loving to laugh, cuddle or kiss (ick) or haven't written anything at all. How am I supposed to know if I want to date you if you don't tell me a single thing about yourself?

Just be normal, honest, employed, college educated, kind of hilarious, not sappy, own a TV (what is with the no-TV people?), not a perv, look like your picture (I'm gonna know if we meet and, no, I won't be able to overlook it once I get to know you) and, oh yeah, definitly not married and LIVE IN NYC. Sorry, but I'm not interested in a weekend relationship, getting on the LIRR, MetroNorth or the Long Island Railroad.

Honestly, the shorter the better!
If it's a good 1/2 hour spent over coffee or a drink, then the second date will be even better.
Just looking to keep the process simple.
