About Me
I have various interests and hobbies. I enjoy college football (South Carolina and the SEC) and like to throw around in the backyard. I prefer boxing and agility type training over the weight room, but my fighting days are over. I can kill a golf ball, love to play badminton and occassionally go bowling. Playing around on my Yamaha piano is an after hours hobby as well. I'm not a great player but play enough to be able to sing a number of songs. I have a 12 year old beautiful black German Shepherd named "Selah" who has been a faithful friend. The only beef I have with her is she eats cat poop whenever she can find it out in the yard. What can I say...she's a dog...I guess it's kinda like hunting for easter eggs...only different...And oh, I also have a good sense of humor... :)
I have 2 degrees from two different schools involving counseling and ministry work.I have a BA in Counseling and am a Licensed Preacher. Also, I have recently enrolled to get my Doctor of Natural Health degree with plans to get my degree in Iridology as well. Being a Pastor is likely in my future or having an Iridology practice and health food store and possibly a little of both...Once I've completed my Doctor of Natural Health and Iridology degrees, I will be equipped and educated to be able to not only help people spiritually, mentally, and emotionally, but with physical problems as well. I get much satisfaction making a difference in the lives of people.
I am well read and, therefore, 'relationship literate', know the wants and needs of a woman in a relationship, a good communicator, understanding, thoughtful, unselfish, as well as kind, but courageous. I still have much to learn and want to continue to grow, but know from listening to alot of unhappy women in bad relationships out there, that I am well ahead of most of the pack. You can't get relationship literacy off of ESPN, out of Sports Illustrated, or in a deer stand. (Go figure...lol) ' Not against these things but with the divorce rate at more than 50%, it seems that more effort would be devoted to learning how to be the right kind of husband and a good leader, and less on things that don't matter nearly as much. I do believe in having good "balance" in life--spiritual, intellectual, social, and physical. You do get wisdom and understanding regarding how to have a successful relationships out of the Bible...yes...the Bible and related books on the subject, and those particularly by Christian authors. Women who choose the "bad boy" types over someone with character and convictions need to buy their Kleenex in bulk quantities...
I am a former Marine, a Christian, a leader at heart, and make no apology for living life according to a Biblical perspective. I am far from perfect and don't want to give the impression that I think I am. I have struggles and disappointments as everyone does. However, I believe wisdom and answers to problems in life are found in a Bible instead of a "bottle" (and you don't have a hangover and puke afterwards...) I have enough troubles without being drunk and stumbling into things.
Some people I admire are Vietnam Marine veteran, double amputee, and evangelist Tim Lee; former Colts coach Tony Dungee; current Florida quarterback Tim Tebow and statesman Alan Keyes. I also have alot of preachers that I admire, particularly the late evangelist Lester Roloff. I admire men who stand for truth and have the courage to go against the grain of popular opinion and being politically correct. I am unimpressed by hollywood 'icons' such as Snoop Dog, Kanye West or far left wingers like Bill Mahr, Keith Olberman, or Rachel Maddow and those who run with them. Last but certainly not least, I am a huge fan of Sarah Palin. She's an incredible example and a great leader and has the character, backbone, and principles shared by the founding fathers, which is what made this country great to begin with.
My musical tastes lean towards alot of Bluegrass Gospel as well as Southern Gospel. I love The Rochesters, The Rolands, and a group called Sound Doctrine. Alison Krauss started out with Bluegrass Gospel and I enjoy her earlier works in particular...Instrumental movie soundtracks is also another favorite type of music...soundtracks such as Lonesome Dove, Somewhere in Time, Dances with Wolves, Braveheart, and some of the Rocky stuff...this is powerful and inspiring music...I even like to hear some Andrea Bocelli--incredible talent. If your music contradicts Phillipians 4:8, you got the wrong kind. It rules out most of what's out there that is "popular". I challenge you to check the lyrics of what you program and fill your mind with against this verse. (C)rap music is the worst...It is the nutritional equivalent of an E coli buffet in your neighbors week old garbage...
I am looking for a woman who is a Born Again Christian and is as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside. She is a spiritual woman and takes care of herself physically. If you struggle with "honesty" issues, are selfish by nature, have questionable character, or are a "party girl", I'm not your guy. Boot Scoot yourself to the next profile...A woman's attractiveness catches my attention but only her heart for God can keep it...If you care about people, are kindhearted, trustworthy, and, want to know what it's like to build a solid relationship with your best friend that will last a lifetime, and survive the storms of life, then consider dropping me a note.
I picked the Dolphin because the Dolphin is a true friend, loyal, predictable, sacrificial, courageous and protects people against predatory types such as sharks. And, God knows, as does everyone else, that the world is saturated with far too many "sharks" and not near enough Dolphins. The Shark seems tougher and more dominant but see who runs who out of town when the two meet. The world is full of "predators" who are ruthless, take advantage of and use people in endless ways and "protectors" are in great need.
Also, my screen name should be read Isaiah 61:1 not 6:11...big difference...You could add verse 2 to that as well.
First Date
A first date would be in a place where the woman feels comfortable and safe. A nice restaurant and a walk at a local park. A pic nic by a NC stream near the mountains or a day trip to Gatlinburg are good second and third dates. While it's great to have a creative date...I'm not there for the event or activity, but for the person.
Just a note...I won't respond to any profile that doesn't have a picture...I mean...cmon...If "Geronimo" back in the 1800's could get his picture made then surely... in 2009... you can come up with one also... :)
And finally, because I never married (there were a couple that I 'could have' and a couple that I 'would have'....) and certainly want kids, I tend to date ladies in their mid to late 20's to mid 30's, who want children as well.
Also, realize that if you put the "within 75 miles" stipulation in your profile...no one beyond that distance can send you a note to say even "hello". I could ride 75 miles on a donkey. I can see several hundred miles but within 75 miles--you're really limiting your possibilities. Your most ideal match might live 80 miles away and you'll never even get a chance to even talk.
I can't promise you everything...just more than you've been getting...
