I'm interested in actually going out on dates. I don't mind exchanging some e-mails before meeting, and in fact, I prefer to get to know you on e-mail or phone before meeting, but I'm definitely not looking for a pen pal. What I am looking for is someone to do stuff with, a friend and activity partner who will hopefully want to be my best friend and eventually something more. That's what I've found to be the best recipe for a lasting relationship. If we can talk for hours without getting bored or stay in on a rainy day and have nothing to do but enjoy each other's company, then that's more romantic and real than anything served up by the lust and flaming passion that people are always raving about.

It would be nice to meet someone like me. I think that I would get along best with another introvert (especially an INFJ), but I'm open to any personality type, because I don't really know for sure what my best match would be. (I am an INTJ under the Myers-Briggs system, and an RCOEI under the Global 5 SLOAN system.) I'm pretty sure that I would get along best with a cat person. I have nothing against dogs, but most of the dog people I have met absolutely refuse to tolerate cats.

I am not religious. I usually try to avoid that issue, but I keep meeting people who cannot accept it, so I'm putting it out there right now. We don't have to agree about religion, but it is important to be able to accept each other as we are.

The default answer to this is dinner followed by drinks, coffee, or milkshakes. This is best for getting a chance to talk and really get to know each other. Depending on the time of day and time of year, bowling can be good, a picnic, or a walk in a park. I usually try to tailor it to the preferences of whoever I'm going out with.
