People have described me as introspective, as I'm always searching for a new viewpoint or different way to look at things. I like to think of myself as rational and even-keeled when I need to be. I can also be extremely silly and am easily amused by many types of humor. It's this dichotomy that attracts people to me.

I also like to have a lot of fun and enjoy eclectic activities. These range from SCUBA diving to snowboarding to just going for a drive or riding my motorcycle. Trying new and adventurous activities gets me through the week. I'm always looking forward to the weekend and a chance to hang out with friends and experience new things.

I love progressive rock. Think Radiohead, Muse, Coheed & Cambria, Rush, and the Mars Volta.

I'm apt to make grandiose claims and take ridiculous dares because I think I'm attention deprived. I do better in one-on-one settings, I can be a bit socially awkward in big groups of strangers. I think it's because I don't want to stick my foot in my mouth, which has happened more times than I'd like to admit. This isn't a hard-and-fast rule, though. I've been known to be pretty ostentatious if the opportunity presents itself.

Deadpan humor is my preferred style of comedy - most people catch on but I can assume it starts out a bit unnerving. Otherwise, I appreciate a good joke and self-deprecating humor. I laugh without restraint when something's funny. I don't when it's not (sorry, no courtesy laughs, unless I'm really trying to impress you). I'm a pretty humble guy, but also competitive (I know it doesn't make sense, but it's true).

I have a weakness for energy drinks. My favorite is Rockstar. I'm actually drinking one right now. One of my guilty pleasures is going to shows. I went to see Phantom in Vegas a while back and it gave me goosebumps. My hotel mates caught me singing in the shower quite loudly afterwards. I was embarrassed. I'm very musically inclined and I love singing in the car or shower or to anyone that will listen and not make fun of me too much. My voice isn't the best, but I can hold a tune.

My ideal match would be smart and fun to be around. Adventures and random activities are my kind of fun. I hope she can cook better than me, but not a requirement. Nothing makes me happier than a good home cooked meal. I will say that some of my attempts at cooking have ended in near disaster, like the time I almost set the kitchen on fire when trying to sear a pot roast.

She should be witty and able to appreciate my nerdiness, which comes out now and again. She should be relatively fit and certainly caring about her own appearance, though I realize not everyone is a supermodel. I love the "girl next door" look.

Spontaneity is also important and being able to do various activities as well as able to stay at home and have a quiet night. I'm not really a social butterfly but I do love getting out and meeting people when I have the energy for it.

Mostly, I'm looking for someone that I don't mind sharing my ambitions, fears, goals, and aspirations with, and in turn, have a match comfortable sharing theirs with me. I'm looking for the elusive sum that is greater than its parts.

I'm a pretty straightforward guy. I think going out for coffee or maybe a casual dinner would be the best way to meet someone for a first date. This makes it less stressful and gives everyone a chance to talk and listen. Going to a movie, for example, would be a terrible first date.
