I spent the last three years working full time while pursuing my Masters degree. Now that I'm finished, I suddenly find myself with a lot of free time and very few friends. I still work a lot, and spend much of my time reading and writing. I like to see live music, go to the movies, and try out new places to eat. I'm a pretty laid back guy, and easy to get along with once you get me talking. I'm also intelligent and very funny. I'm a genuinely nice guy, so if you're looking for the bad boy type, you should keep looking. Also, I hug like I mean it.

My job is fine and it pays the bills, but I'm currently on the lookout for something a little more fulfilling. I love to write, edit and teach, and I'm working on finding something that allows me to do at least two out the three. I have had a few things published already, but I would love to actually write a book. I have more great ideas than I have time to execute.

Most of my music is sad basterd indie pop, but I have songs from all over the place.

I'm looking for a nice girl to be my friend. Someone with whom I can hang out, go to the park, go to museums, go shopping, run errands, see movies, engage in bold cooking experiments, try out sketchy restaurants, make fun of weird looking people, share successes and failures, browse bookstores, get duded up and go out, and generally enjoy good times. Sharing some common interests is obviously a good thing, but I'm also looking to break out my shell a little, so a sense of adventure and an independent personality are major plusses.

One thing I am seeking above all is a woman with a brain. I love a good conversation, and I have been missing out on them lately. So do not apply if you cannot carry on a conversation, or if you think that arguments are necessarily bad things.

I like to keep it low pressure on first dates. Typically I like to find a quiet restaurant or coffee shop and just kind of chat and get to know each other. Maybe ice cream if it's hot out. I know some great places around the city, and am always on the look out for more.
