About Me
I think friendship is very important in a relationship so I would like to start out by getting to know someone as a friend who shares my interests/passions and see where it goes from there. I am recently divorced and not looking to date around but looking to ease back into meeting new people outside of my current social/geographic circles. Who knows where it goes from there.
I hate online profiles. I am still of the belief that dating should be fun and that getting to know someone in real life is half the exploration and experience. These profiles tend to over-complicate the process in my opinion (ironically, with the intention of simplifying the process)
Too, where's the age old questions like whether the toilet paper unrolls from the top or the bottom, what side of the bed do you sleep on, do you put the toilet seat down, do you put the cap back on the toothpaste, cat or dog, morning/night person???
That being said, here is my unabashed attempt at self promotion (oh, the toilet paper must come from the bottom (deal killer), left side of the bed, most of the time, no but thank goodness for new and improved toothpaste packaging with built-in caps, cats & dogs and morning).....
I am self aware, confident and at peace with who I am. I am funny, witty and kind hearted. I like to try new things and explore. I am even tempered, not moody or quick to anger. I am curious and like to learn. I have traveled and love to travel/explore other landscapes and cultures. I enjoy a good drink but don't enjoy being drunk. I can communicate my feelings without the need of prodding, I like and can hold an intelligent conversation about many topics. I am active and take care of myself emotionally, physically and spiritually. I like the outdoors, I like to hike, run, row/scull, play squash and mountaineering. I have a nice community of a diverse set of friends and I spend much time continuing to nurture those relationships. I am a hard worker, but do not identify myself with my work. I am affectionate (both publicly and privately) and passionate. While not terribly creative myself, I appreciate creativity, the arts, theater, etc... I can laugh at myself and not take life too seriously. I show up when the the chips are down and don’t dissapear when needed most. I like to take the reins and make the plans.
On a typical Friday night I am usually doing Civil War Reenactments, playing Dungeons & Dragons, modeling my Ed Hardy wardrobe or watching Star Trek. I am hoping to find someone who can share these passions with me (you'll have to meet me to see if I am serious :))
I grew up outside of Seattle and have lived in NYC and the Bay Area for the last 13 years. Most of my professional travel is domestic but I would love to find someone with whom to explore the "rest" of the world - not just the Four Seasons and Ritz (although I like those too and we can start there). Anywhere with big mountains, awe inspiring terrain and unique cultures are of keen interest (i. e. Argentina, Peru, New Zealand, Russia, Pakistan, Tibet etc..)
I consider myself pretty funny and I don't take life too seriously. A sense of humor is an absolute prerequisite. You don't necessarily have to like my humor, but you need to be able to laugh, especially at yourself!
I have a BA in Architecture and an MBA from Columbia University - NYC. I am a part owner of a private equity fund that buys companies that build energy infrastructure projects and I absolutely love my job and my partners.
I enjoy rowing/sculling, running, mountaineering, tennis and squash.
If any of this sounds remotely interesting, send me a note and let's chat.
