I've succeeded in life by most material measures, but now seek the personal success and fulfilment that has eluded me to date.

Frank confession : I'm not a superman, but in turn, you don't need to be a superwoman. Sometimes I'm lazy and untidy. I've been known to be occasionally ill-tempered. And probably all the other failings that we all have, to greater or lesser degree.

However, imperfect though I am, please keep reading, because I hope you'll agree I do have some redeeming features!

I'm originally from New Zealand but now a naturalized US citizen.

I have many interests, including classical music, opera and ballet. I read widely and am fortunate to have traveled fairly extensively, and always am keen to travel more. I enjoy the arts in general, the outdoors, and can sometimes be seen with a camera or camcorder.

People often describe me as a 'Type A' person and its true I have a passion for excellence and strive to succeed. But now I'm trying to create some balance in my life and am keen to become more a 'Type B' person - perhaps with your encouragement and help?

Forgive the immodesty if I describe myself as intelligent and a high achiever. But neither attribute really counts for much when simply seeking (and offering in exchange) love, companionship, and friendship.

I'm seeking a person who, more than anything else, has a good/kind heart and soul. If that describes you, we can almost certainly resolve any differences between us.

First dates - so eagerly sought, but so difficult to make truly different. There's a temptation to do the traditional 'meet for a coffee' thing, or, if feeling more confident, maybe a drink or a meal.

However, I'm always keen to consider slightly 'outside the box' alternatives (while not wishing to be imprudent) that make the first meeting less sterile and clinical in nature. But I've no idea what such things might be.

Perhaps the most important determinant for choosing a first date is matching what you might wish to do as well. I'm flexible. :)
