Hi, I'm Chris. Tell me if I sound like I am someone you want to get to know and maybe build a meaningful relationship with. I'm looking for commitment. I am a former Air Force officer and Operation Iraqi Freedom vet who got ditched after getting back to the states. I stayed true to my vows, she didn't. It happens to a lot of us who have gone overseas... but I'm done with the drama and ready to live my life with someone who will stay true. That's the back-story if you're wondering about my "status." I hope you won't judge me for it.

I'm looking for someone who won't play games (someone who doesn't keep an ex-boyfriend around as a "best friend"). I want someone smart, pretty, loving, funny, and fun who wants to settle down and start a family- but still wants to share adventures.

If you capture my heart, you'll have someone dedicated and devoted who will stand by your side through almost anything- I just want the same in return.

I'm currently working as a Sr. International Security Specialist in Huntsville (I love it here!). I'm originally from Florida (and love to visit my family there), just a few minutes from the beach, so while I don't have a southern accent, I do enjoy southern hospitality and sweet tea! I grew up reading sci-fi and fantasy, wanting to be a modern day knight- so I joined the Air Force as an officer (the closest thing I could find) and wanted a career there. That got cut short due to events beyond my control (lung injury and down-sizing), but I bounced back and am working in the same field as a subject matter expert doing something similar to what I did while I was in- just without a uniform these days. :-) I took an oath to protect and defend the Constitution. Even though I'm no longer on active duty, that oath never expires. After a couple near-death experiences and miracles, I'm more open and passionate about life, but I still have a bit of a shy side (though you probably can't tell from my ramblings here).

I love intelligent conversation, reading/watching sci-fi and fantasy, fencing (yes, the sport), collecting (and shooting) guns, listening to music (Dragonforce, Within Temptation, Sonata Arctica, Cruxshadows, Rock, Classical, and anything from Billie Holiday to some techno, and whatever's on Way FM- anything but rap, really twangy country, or screaming stuff) and of course, enjoying life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. I enjoy playing the piano and guitar, though I am by no means even remotely great at either.

I do not sit and watch sports- and could care less about them on TV. It is definitely not my thing. I'd rather watch an old black and white movie, or almost any movie for that matter

I love being a bit different. I come across straight-laced, and am a non-denominational Christian Conservative Constitutionalist, but I've really got a warped sense of humor, with a hint of deadpan sarcasm. Corny jokes and bad puns are great forms of entertainment too though and should be treasured.

What else? I love classical furniture that looks like it belongs in a castle, which makes it a little difficult for me since I bought what I consider to be a house on the small side... so I'll be looking for a new house someday in the not too distant future once my big old house in NC sells and I'm not paying 2 mortgages (ouch)!

I can't be with a smoker (I am a disabled vet with sensitive lungs, but I'm 100% ok otherwise- as I ran a 5k in Baghdad in 100+ degree weather to prove it to myself, and wound up not doing too bad either- better than 2/3 of the people running!).

I would rather not pursue a relationship with someone who already has children. However, I love them and want them someday with the right person. I want someone who takes care of herself- thin, athletic, or average- because I believe staying in shape/being healthy is important, and indicates a decent level of personal responsibility/maturity/good stewardship. I grew up on welfare and worked my way up, so I want someone who values a hard-earned dollar and wants to build a solid future and contribute to the home, rather than blow whatever comes in right after payday. I want someone drug and disease free who shares my faith and political views (so we aren't butting heads over basic beliefs), has a compatible taste in music, and shares or would love to share some of my hobbies as well- or has a hobby they think I would enjoy. I'm not a big drinker, but enjoy the occasional glass or few of wine or beer with a meal every so often. I truly appreciate the value of home-cooked meals and a clean home; if things worked out, I would shower you with endless praises and compliments for them. LOL ;-)

I've got 2 small dogs, a cat, a bird, and 2 fish. If you like them, and they like you, we might just have something!

I'm still fairly new to the Huntsville area and am not too sure yet. I've recently started fencing again after about a 6 year break, so that's something I do here, but it's not really "first-date" kind of stuff... So, whether it's Taco Bell (just kidding) to upscale dining, or just hanging out and getting to know one another, as long as you're a sweetheart, then the world will fall away and my attention will be on you.

I love sushi, so a good sushi place would be a possibility... I love Miso House, so if you're into sushi or Korean food, that's a great place to go! I'd say maybe a picnic, but the weather's not right for it at the moment... I'd be happy anywhere really though as long as it's not so noisy I can't hear you, because to me, it's not so much about the location as it is the company. Not into clubbing though...

If you're the adventurous sort, maybe we could go fencing together at some point, hiking and/or camping, or shooting at the range after we get to know one another. I drive past a skating rink on my way back from work every day, and think that would be a fun/silly thing to do that I haven't done in years. :-) I see a lot of people on here are into mudding. That's something I've never done, and it sounds like a new adventure I'd love to try someday- just not in my Caddy! :-P

Basically, someone who will be happy doing anything together, knowing that it's the togetherness that's the important part.
