When in love I am more complete than otherwise and have always sought to be a caring and compassionate partner. that so many women seem to be attracted to I do not date as often as I would like. My interests include but are not limited to sailing, fishing, playing acoustic guitar, puttering around in the yard with my dogs, and canoeing on the St. Mary's River. I have worked in the field of land surveying since 1982 and am currently employed as superintendent of surveying for a large commercial builder in Jacksonville, Florida.


I live on 4 acres in extreme North Florida, , along the middle prong of the St. Mary's River. I am comfortably nestled in between several small horse farms and the river where the sunlight is dappled by the shadow of overarching oaks. My retired mother lives with me; we share expenses and are very close. I have two sisters that are both registered nurses that are married and have families of their own. Both live within 60 miles. I was married to a beautiful young woman with whom I had irreconcilable differences stemming from the fact that she turned out to be a lesbian; however, we are still best friends.

I am looking for a kindred intellect, someone who is bright, opinionated and well educated (formally or otherwise), with the courage of her convictions, someone who can stimulate me intellectually as well as in other ways, someone who is looking for a companion who will walk beside her not in front of or behind her. We should be able to disagree on any issue without disrespecting each other for it, while at the same time being open-minded enough to appreciate one another's opinion.
