Hobbies: I enjoy golf (not quite a fanatic, but close...ha, ha), hiking (the mountains and canyons in Utah are just simply incredible), working out (just enough to keep my fitness at a level to allow me to enjoy my favorite activities), travel (I've done far too little but love to visit tropical beaches), reading (a good non-fiction action/spy yarn periodically).

Goals/aspirations: I think that I'd like to see more of the world. I've spent most of my adult life raising my family and so now I think it's time to reward myself. I see this travel as an opportunity to expand one's understanding and awareness of other regions of the globe...it certainly was enlightening to have visited South Africa in 2008. I'd like to live in a location (preferably near a beach) that allows for easy access to a major airport to accommodate the travel easily.

Uniqueness: Ha, ha...that's a difficult one! Having moved from North Carolina to Utah is fairly unique (ha, ha) but really, I'd say that whatever makes me unique is quite likely in the eye of the beholder. I think my life has been somewhat normal with perhaps the added benefit of having lived in many different regions of the country therefore allowing me, I think, to gain a greater tolerance of people's differences...I dare say much more tolerance than if I'd not experienced so many different regions.

Music: Well, I love music (I have no musical skills); ironically though, I rarely listen to it. It seems as if there's so little time to just relax to enjoy it. My tastes, while I wouldn't say that they are eclectic, I would say they are varied... of course lots of stuff from the seventies and eighties (rock, Motown, easy listening, etc.), jazz, pop country.

First dates for me are really very simple occasions. Usually they occur soon after getting acquainted online. Generally, they consist of nothing more than a simple lunch or ice cream meet; I don't drink coffee but that doesn't mean my date can't, so coffee shops are a good first encounter location. The whole idea with the first date is to be in a location that is comfortable for my date and to provide a limited timeframe (no one wants to be stuck for an extended time with a bad date); however the date should provide the potential to extend the timeframe if the conversation is going really well.

The options for first dates get to be much greater if an extended period of communication has occurred prior to that first meeting. Generally, in that situation, much more is known of the person, their likes and dislikes, so that dates can be tailored to what each of you enjoy.
