Well, I am in graduate school. I like riding bikes and looking at trees and other living things. I also enjoy snorkeling around seagrass beds. I love to study ecology and evolution. I am a fan of poetry and music. Relaxed dinner parties are nice too. I am teaching myself to play the guitar. It's such a pleasantly social instrument. I used to play the violin, but that's hard to keep up with, being in grad school. I am interested in subverting hierarchical social structures. I find mainstream American culture, consumerism, militarism/foreign policy and obsessive capitalism to be nauseating and depressing. My idea of a very boring day would be watching sports. I like going to the farmer's market and buying vegetables. I would like to learn more about film, growing food, social theory, ethics and fixing my bicycles.

I am interested in people who are passionate about their work and life, who are academic and engaged with the world around them. I would like to meet people who are committed to finding ways to live sustainably. I would like to find a left wing intellectual with a strong sense of social conscience who would enjoy intimate concerts, conversation, walks in the woods and reading out loud.

I used to listen to a lot of classical music, but not so much recently.

I think it is good to eat something on a first date. This highlights a commonality, since all humans eat. Also, if someone doesn't like to eat, it's best to find that out on the first date. This is kind of a pointless question. It depends on the person I'm going out with and what we both like to do. I will say, however, that it's best to go somewhere with a good atmosphere for conversation.
