I'm a broadcast journalist. I've lived abroad twice. Two years in London. Half a year in Belgium. I'm originally from NYC. I settled in Los Angeles about nine years ago because most of my family lives here now. I've found a career that I absolutely love, so I think I'm staying put. I'm politically active. I did radio commentaries for years on local issues. Like most people who date online, I reached a phase in my life where I don't have the patience to chat with someone for 45 minutes only to learn they're a Jesus freak or an axe murder or, worse yet, voted for Bush (or all three). How do I define myself? I come from a close family. I have a great brother who has the cutest little girls in the world. It takes me a long time to form bonds, so I have few friends but I have incredibly close friends. I'm looking for someone with a political conscience who lives what they advocate. That's kind of hard to find in LA, the land of SUV's with "No blood for oil" bumper stickers. What else? I love to cycle...I bike the 13 miles to work twice a week or more. Don't like spectator sports. Like to cook. Enjoy reading about science. And the flying spaghetti monster? Google it!

A first date with someone I just met on an online dating service? Well, I'd say a coffee or wine sounds pretty natural... with someone I really like? That's different: an evening in downtown with dinner in some crazy, out of the way place that's totally awesome and not well known. It might involve a waiter who speaks French. Then maybe a drink at a bar with a great view.
