About Me
I prefer one on one over crowds. The time spent quietly with nature as a respite from all the stress and commotion of city life. When I was living in Toronto, I often enjoyed trips to New York City - walking for hours from one end to the other, exploring the museums, the book stores and and gazing up at all the amazing architecture. Maybe it's age or simply that I've done all that, but now I prefer the sights and sounds of the natural world. One of my favorite moments is when the engine is shut off and the sound of the wind as it fills the sails. Traveling from place to place with the ocean as my highway will be a change from traffic and airport line ups.
I moved to Vancouver 4 years ago, I was a real estate agent with some interior design work and web development in Toronto for more than 10 years, my first job here was as a tour guide for 2 years, now I'm working to build a pension so I can go sailing.
I just bought a 27 foot ocean going sailboat in Oct, taking possession in March with plans to live-aboard in a marina on the Fraser River. I expect to cruise the Gulf islands and on the weekends and holidays - I get 5 weeks paid!
I stay active by riding my bike to work a few days a week across the Lion's Gate and either run a bit or go out for a pleasure ride on the weekend. At 46 I ran the NYC marathon...and finished. Not sure if I'll do that again. I do enjoy the Grouse Grind occasionally, early when there's few people.
I listen to music, jazz and classical being my preference but sometimes I do enjoy the old favorites, but only when I'm in the mood to listen not for background noise. I like to read in peace and quite. I don't watch TV, but I do often watch movies on my laptop.
