Though I taught American and world lit for many years, retirement has given me the time to pursue my other passions, painting and jazz. I have been serious about music and art for many years, but (be careful what you wish for) I need to quit defining myself by my work and get out more. I love to talk arts, politics, sports, and enjoy finding out I have been wrong about something or somebody. Thus, a bad idea can be thrown away.The many joys of life are only enhanced by sharing them. Though originaly a city boy, I live in a beautiful though slightly isolated spot, which means that the only women I'm likely to meet are religious zealots who only want my soul. (I tell them I have mislaid it, but will call them if it turns up). I am not as grim as the photo would suggest.

Let's talk, talk, talk. But I would prefer to listen. I love to hear about other peoples lives. All are interesting, often more than they think. I would consider any first meeting a success if I could make the person laugh often.
