About Me
I am a strong woman, who enjoys both laughing-til-we-pee with my friends and being there for them in their hard times. I am compassionate and intuitive, intelligent and logical, creative and curious. I love to wonder about the mysteries of the Universe. I am stably employed as a technical writer and desktop publisher, and am grateful that both of these are true: I thoroughly love my job and I'm not allowed to work overtime.
I am looking for a friend who could turn into something more. I think the best relationships have some spark but progress slowly, growing some depth. I like togetherness and I like individuality. There is plenty of time for a balance of each.
I love philosophy and exchanging quotes with people. I am agnostic-- the Universe just can't be limited to what I am told to believe!
Just about any kind of music is my favorite, but if I had to choose just one, my radio in my car would be tuned to the Soul and Motown station. I've made lots of mix CDs for myself and my friends. For example, I've gone to the extent where I put together a 3-disc collection of secular Christmas music over the years, adding a little more each year. I am a music junkie.
I love watching month-old movies at the $2 theater in Pasadena. If I see something at the regular theater or the $5 theater, before it gets to the $2 theater, that means it looked extra good. I also love watching my favorite DVDs. Some of my favorites are Like Water for Chocolate, Fried Green Tomatoes, Priscilla Queen of the Desert, Grease, Rocky Horror, Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown, What the Bleep Do We Know, Benny and Joon, just about any Musical... the list goes on.
Some of my favorite places are San Luis Obispo, West Hollywood and the Village/LA Gay Center, the $2 theater in Pasadena, and just about ANYWHERE on a road trip, with music and singing blasting!
I was a Doggy Mommy for 15 years, until my dog passed away this past May, and I thrive on my friends' and other people's dogs. I'm not ready yet for another dog of my own, unless I was sharing him or her with someone else and spent more time at home that a dog needs.
Here's a quote that hangs on the wall of my bedroom to start us off. Send me some of yours!
Our life is an apprenticeship to the truth That around every circle another can be drawn; That there is no end in nature, But every end is a beginning; That there is always another dawn risen on mid-noon; And under every deep a lower deep opens.
-Ralph Waldo Emerson
First Date
My favorite first dates are those where we lose track of the time because we are so engrossed in conversation. The context for such a date can be anywhere-- somewhere creative, an art gallery, a restaurant, a coffee house, the beach (especially the Dog Beach!), a play or musical event, botanical gardens, a festival... L.A. is full of opportunities. I'd like to be inspired to create something special for someone-- I would like to know them just well enough to be able to tailor something unique to interests that we share.
