In my spare time I like to go to comedy shows or live sports events (baseball, college basketball and hockey), work on home improvement projects (currently renovating my bedroom), read novels (Grisham, King, Lancaster and Kinsella) and the Sunday paper all the way through, cook for family and friends, go to the beach (yes even in the winter) and volunteer in my local community.

Musical tastes range from Springsteen to Josh Turner to classic Rolling Stones to Patsy Cline to Jay Black and the Americans to Tim McGraw to anything Beatles prior to Revolver.

I'm definitely a morning person; up and about when the sun comes up. Not much of a night owl so if you are the nocturnal type, we may not be a good match. I tend to get mellow once the sun goes down.

I enjoy being a woman-nail polish on my toes and crying during sad movies. Tough when I need to be and soft and tender in all the right places. While I am relatively self sufficient (I actually LOVE mowing the lawn and I know when to get my car oil changed), I like a man around for lifting heavy things and squashing ugly bugs. I am traditional in many ways and modern in others.

Preference for tall (over 5 ft 9 in), clean cut (but not necessarily clean shaven), polite, non smoking good manners, hard working. I won't care what kind of car you drive but I will notice if you open the door for me when you come to pick me up for a date. I won't care if you have lots of $$ but I will notice if you appreciate the "value" of family (especially your children) and loyal friends.

Only guys who like to smile and have positive attitudes please-Eeyores need not apply. Kids optional; I've got one plus a dog and it's a package deal.

On our first date, I would like to go someplace quiet where we could have a cup of coffee and conversation. If we agree that we would like to continue to pursue the relationship, our second date could be a sports event or concert or dinner. It's not the activity that matters; it's the company and the opportunity to enjoy being with each other.
