A friend once described me as a, “well-read smartass.” Like Yahweh and Popeye I am what I am.

Educated and literate, active and fit; I’m a reader and sometimes a writer, too. I Iove new places and faces, movies, theatre, museums, good friends, good food and being out in the sun! Music and literature are in my heart, from Irish folk and classical, to Bluegrass and Alternative, and from Milton and Shakespeare to Clancy, King and Angelou.

I’m busy, not obsessed, balanced, not ballasted. My work is important to me, but not to the universe.

A Boy Scout? No. Faithful, caring, passionate, sensual? Yes. No drugs, little drink, no record, and the apron strings fell away long ago.

None who live fully shed the weight of that living, but leave the drama for stage and page. I'm looking, not desperate, seeking a partner in crime not a cellmate. It’s simple and at the same time complicated: are you someone with whom I might explore life, love, wine and laughter and also to share passion, hope, beer and even the occasional tear?

First date? Do people do first dates these days? We're all so cautious. Seems it's mandatory to do a Starbuck's drive-by, first. Is that a first date?

For me, I'll skip Starbuck's. How about a cozy pub on a chilly night, a place where we can start at the bar with a drink or two, then move to a table? We can find out whether the food in the joint is worth anything.

Let's talk. You know, conversation?

Maybe (hopefully?) long into the night. Let's find a place with low music and no crowds. Can you get to know someone while shouting over canned Metallica or a howling band? Getting to know you would be important to me.

After sampling the food, maybe making fun of it, maybe loving it, we can walk down the street for coffee. More talk, more discovery. I want to know who you are, and I hope you'll want to know who I am, too.

Then let's go home--me to mine, you to yours and think about what we've learned, whom we've discovered.
