First of all, this may be my first try at e-dating but no friends told me to do it and I wasn't thinking "oh, what the hell." Though some people do, I've never thought less of people who did this and always thought that if I was ever single, it would be a great way to meet new and exciting people. Besides, the supermarket chance-encounter is just kinda akward and when you date within your social circle (i.e. friends, family, co-workers) there's always that chance that if things go wrong you won't be able to see all the people you want to. And being thirty and all, most of my friends are married and have kids--so no referrals there!

So about me: well, I just got out of the military as an officer and despite what you might think about all those right-wing, narrow-minded meat heads (yes they do exist), I think I'm the rare oxymoronic liberal military man. I have no qualms about fighting to defend my friends and loved ones but I'm disgusted by American imperialism concocted by old white men who have never seen war. Anyway, that's all over and I'm opening up my own business in Vegas though I'm still up in the Northwest taking care of some last minute things for the next few weeks.

My goal is to be financially stable so I can retire by the time I'm 55. I've already been to Italy, Greece, Spain, Portugal, Japan, and Korea. I'd love to leisurely see the rest of the world and maybe have a small cottage in Southern Europe someday. Marriage and kids are an option for me though I'm unafraid of either--I'll just never settle. But if I did have a kid, I'd be a devoted and dotting (not spoiling) father.

Music: I love good house music. What can I say? Back in the day I use to be a raver and though those days are long over, I still enjoy the music anywhere anyhow. I also like Latin music, afro-carribean, reggae, arabic, indie, and laid back tunes like John Mayer and Jack Johnson.

When I was in the military I did a ton of community work on my spare time. I'm a Big Brother (not the spying kind) to a fantastic 13 year old kid and though sadly I'm leaving we're still going to be great friends. I've also done community organizing around LGBT issues and helping with Census Partnerships in the lower income minority communities.

Sports: I love tennis--playing and watching so if you play to, awesome--if not, well I can give you some free lessons ;) I love a little bit of soccer too and football. I workout about 4 times a week but I play tennis too, so its maybe about 6 times a week of activity. I'm not really into how I look but I think daily exercise is essential for a centered state-of-mind.

One last thing: like I said before I think this is a great way to meet people so I'll likely be chatting with a few people at the same time. No games but if you're the jealous type, no dice. I just want to really get to know someone before I commit to them. But when I do, I am totally devoted and caring--almost to a fault. But don't think you can take advantage of me because I catch on pretty quick. A healthy relationship should be about reciprocity without the other person having to remind you of it.

I've always wanted to go salsa dancing on a date and never had the chance. So here's to my (and your) chance. I love to cook, so if you love to eat and are into trying new things--I'm game. Watching a classic DVD afterwards would be good top-off. I've visited Vegas numerous times and now that I'm going to live there, I'll have the chance to hike Red Rocks, so if you can beat me to the top with me on your back, I'll make you dinner :) I guess anything that facilitates good conversation and some sense of intimacy is good, thus clubbing or your family reunion is probably out.
