Does anyone want a simple, old-fashioned guy anymore...or is that "yesterday's news"?

I prefer yard sales to sporting events; affordable dining to fancy restaurants; parks and museums to nightclubs. It doesn't take much to please me if I enjoy whom I'm with. I'm more of a homebody, but I do like to get out - just not to loud, crowded or smokey venues.

I'm a graphic artist who specializes in lettering and type design...computer fonts for the uninitiated.

I enjoy music ranging from classical to top 40 of the 80's; classic films of the 40's and 50's and have a respect for things past.

I'm self-sufficient but far from rich. Keeping up with the Joneses never intrigued me... I prefer the simple life. The most valuable things are those that are NOT tangibles... friends, family and your health. Everything else is secondary.

I try to live a decent honest life, and this can be attested to by the fact that one of my closest friends is a police officer - and she would never tolerate me acting any other way - or dating someone of questionable moral character.

I have both male and female friends; many of them being friends for decades. This should speak strongly about me. I'm happy to answer any reasonable question you might have.

Laughter is good for the soul, and I try to make others laugh whenever possible. As someone once said "I may grow older, but I will NEVER grow up!"

The ideal woman in my life wants to be a true friend - whether we develop anything stronger or not... someone who honestly CARES about me and my well being and will enjoy being in my company for WHO I am - not for what she perceives or demands I should be.

This a woman who will accept that I am not perfect, and at times my faults will overshadow my best intentions. As she would not wish to be changed, neither would I wish to change her. She should be someone who, along with her individual strengths, is kind, nurturing and compassionate - believing that two people working together make for a better sum total than one or both individuals out for their own self-interests.

In today's world, the best first date is a public place where we both meet up, start to get to know each other and do this with no preconceptions or demands... Some coffee [or tea or soda], a light meal and some conversation to see if there's any chemistry.
