Someone told me once "You're like Huey Freeman of The Boondocks, but Latino and gay...". I thought it was funny, and whole-hearted agreed. You can call me Devin. Hmmmm, where to start... well I'm a two-spirit,vegetable-eating, art-loving, pro-feminist, anti-authoritarian PoMo-HoMo music-head. It has proven to be a full-time job. I'm a born and raised Long Islander. But I proudly reside in Queens now. My family is from Central America. My mom has become one of my favorite folks and a very close friend, a new developement being that we used to not get along so well. I happen to be the middle child of three boys, and i have a severe case of the "middle-child-syndrome". I read once that middle children often times end up choosing careers of the social and helpful persuasions. It may be true being that I've always had social-worky type of jobs. I guess it's in my nature. I worked with queer, trans and homeless youth for about nine years before resigning to do other things, one which is finishing up with school. I guess you could say I'm a very passionate person, and if I believe in something, I stand by it no matter what.

Some random things I am obsessed with: Thrift Stores, Pigs, Designer Glasses, Concerts, Shows and Live Music, Records, Finding New Music, Films, Modern Dance, Spoken Word Poetry, Street Performance and Activist Theatre.

Some things that interest me: Gender Issues, Latino and Black Aesthetics, Anti-Authoritarian Politics, Veganism and Vegetarianism, Sex Education and AIDS Awareness, Third Wave Feminism, Pro-feminism, Activism, ****ing sh*tUp, and Living My Life Like It's Golden!

Things i don't like or identify with: racism, sexism, heterosexism, lookism, transphobia, sizeism and classism. So with that said, I don't like mainstream-gay-white-culture. Morally speaking, I don't like the idea of twinks and bears, use of the words "Straight-Acting", defining beauty in terms of white-blond and skinny, the use of the word exotic when describing a person of color, the disrespect of gender-non-conformity and transgender folks, and the fear of vaginas and women. Aesthetically speaking, I dislike techno-music playing gay clubs, Broadway shows, musicals, Abercrombie & Fitch and American Eagle wearing type of gay guys. And above all, hipsters. This culture is alienating and kinda expected of gay man.. I take an active role in refusing to be predictable, a stereotype or some sort of fetish or mascot for the world within this culture.

I'm game as long as we can converse to get to know one another.
