I would never move back to Amarillo. After three years there, I was desperate to leave. But looking back on my time as a crime reporter in that small Texas town, I am glad I lived there.

That's because I learned a pretty valuable lesson in that town: It's easy to find a chuckle when your life is in a sweet spot. But if you can belt out laughter when your life hits the skids, well, you're a person with lot of grace and moxie.

That's the kind of person I want to be. And it is the person I want to meet.

So here a brief snapshot of me right now: Finding the silliest piece of humor out of anything is my little fix of nirvana; Spontaneity is the leading cause for the most fun in my life; and I think nothing is more sexy than good old fashion intellectual stimulation.

I am a victim of the newspaper industry woes, but when I was I busting out stories on a daily basis, I dug my job as a reporter. What other job in the world does a media director for a presidential campaign keep calling you for half a day to see if you want to interview his candidate? Or pay you to talk to a 100-year-old woman and hear all her wonderful stories. I mean, I would do that for free.

When I get away from phone calls and deadlines, I like to hit the slopes, cruise on my bike, bum a ride on a boat along the Colorado River or take a hike along a trail. But there is nothing like reading a good book or watching a movie on a cold day with cloudy skies. But who knows? My interests could change tomorrow. Simply, put: I am up for anything.

I am an easygoing fella with only two little demands: Make me laugh and make me think.

I like to talk. I like to think. So on first dates I want to get to know the person across from me better. So a casual dinner at a low-key pub (like the Mountain Sun) is pretty fun for a first date for me. Either that or a nice hike in the hills of Boulder. But it really doesn't matter. Just as long as it is a good opportunity to communicate, it's all good.
