I think the perfect first date would be to grab some Starbucks and head out for a long walk and talk. Get to know one another... See if the chemistry is there. If not, no one has to be uncomfortable. Maybe we would make better friends, or who knows, maybe we would want to plan something more detailed for the next time we get together. Don't be afraid to say, "your cool, but not exactly who I am looking for." No pressure, no need to look for the "reason" to escape, no strings. Just two people breaking the ice and spending time together looking for the common ground.
