About Me
I am taking an extended winter vacation at the coast in Astoria. I am a professional educator currently in a career transition -- I just completed a graduate degree in June, and I spent most of this summer traveling within the US. I like Astoria, but I probably will be living here only temporarily (for a few months).
I am originally from Oregon but I am still getting to know the north coast area and trying to meet people here. I have family and friends in Eugene and Portland.
I would like to meet a woman for companionship. I am open to just about any type of relationship, whether friendly or romantic, as long as it is caring, respectful, and sincere. For me there is no "perfect match", but I am looking for someone who is coming from the heart. Let's go do something fun!
My fish personality is "turtle" because I am not one to hurry! I am a creative thinker and admittedly something of a dreamer and a space cadet. My sense of humor can be dry, sarcastic, obscure, or silly. I tend to be quiet and to socialize best one-on-one or in small groups. I would be compatible with someone who can appreciate and complement those qualities.
One hobby I enjoy most of all is bicycling. I ride a road bike (randonneuring) and I usually like to go for about 30 miles on an average afternoon ride. It would be fantastic to have someone with whom to go cycling (or other exercising). I also enjoy hiking or doing just about anything outdoors.
I am an avid music listener and collector, and I often comb through the stacks at thrift stores or yard sales. I sort of have a reputation for liking music that few people would listen to, although my tastes have smoothed out quite a bit with time. Years ago I used to dj college radio, but today I don't really keep up with new artists any more. Most of all I like jazz, indie, world, and old-school stuff.
I also collect books, and I do photography. I stay at home and work on the computer quite a bit too.
I don't use any intoxicants at all -- I stopped drinking about 10 years ago, which was simply a personal decision to be a healthier and happier person. I don't mind being with people who are drinking socially, but it would be a big plus to meet a woman who appreciates sobriety like I do. I just think we will be more compatible.
