Hello, my name is Brian, and I'm currently an undergraduate college student. So far, my intended major is sociology, with minors in history and philosophy. Concerning my personality, I'm quite shy, awkward, and generally quiet. The exception would be with people that have interests and ideas that are extremely similar to mine, so as to have a meaningful, intelligent conversation. Don't worry, though, I always try to meet new people. In addition, I am also reflective, attentive, thoughtful, kind, and courteous. Some of the things that bother me are obnoxiousness, rudeness, yelling, fighting, and shallowness (in people). I can be very stubborn sometimes, but only on matters I feel strongly about, and those matters are few and far between. I once had a temper as a little kid, but it has been nearly dormant and under control since elementary school. I don't get angered or upset very easily--I'm extremely understanding and empathetic. Also, I can kringe a little and appear somewhat stiff on the outside sometimes, but that just means I'm a bit nervous. This happens only in large crowds or places/situations with blaring, loud noise. In addition, I might not always make direct eye contact, but it doesn't mean I'm disinterested in what you have to say at all. I'm also one of those people who thinks before he does something, and I can occasionally pause during a conversation. I'm just trying to find the most appropriate and/or meaningful thing to say. Overall, I'm not anti-social, just shy. I have a witty sense of humor, engaging conversational skills, and knows how to have a great time if given the chance. Once I get to know you more, I will warm up to you and feel far more relaxed and confident. Don't worry, this period of "rigidness" will easily melt away once we get to know each other.

To continue, I'm very political and philosophical, and often like to talk about a variety of new ideas. I consider myself a Left-Wing Libertarian and a Utopian Idealist: in short, a modern day hippie. Additionally, I don't drink, smoke, or do any sort of recreational drugs: never have and never will. Although I don't think that drugs/alcohal should be illegalized, I just see them as simply a waste of time. I believe one can still have a good time without resorting to drugs/alcohol. To continue, since I'm an ardent environmentalist, I don't drive at all, and don't plan to. I'm also firmly agnostic, taking a "middle road" between organized religion and pure atheism. However, I really consider myself an "atheist-leaning agnostic".

Finally, my other interests include many types of history: Ancient, Medieval, Colonial, Modern, Cultural, Atlantic, Pacific, Asian, European, African, Pre-Columbian American, and the histories of specific nations. Additionally, I love taking photographs, either of beautiful scenery or of "experimental" surrealistic images--both types in natural and artificial environments. To continue, I'm very much fascinated by both psychology and psychiatry because I'm interested in how the human mind works. Furthermore, I'm deeply interested in sociology because I want to know how humans organize and establish themselves politically, economically, socially, culturally, etc.

My ideal match would be with a sensitive, thoughtful, intelligent, respectful, kind, caring, and compassionate person in which we could both fill a void within each other and create a mutually loving, lasting relationship. In essense, someone who would know when I was feeling down, and would comfort me without me having to ask, and if she felt miserable, I would comfort her in any way possible. Someone to hug and feel close to, no matter what situation; someone I could have meaningful discussions with; and someone who has similar hopes, dreams, ideals, and determination as I do. Importantly, I am a very loyal and trustworthy person. I would never, and I firmly repeat, never cheat, neglect, or abuse the person I cared very deeply for. Although I've never been in a relationship, to me, women are not sex objects for exploitation, but human beings to share and cherish experiences with. I also would treat her as my equal, never a subordinate, because I believe all humans are equal, and should be treated with respect. Sex is not a priority for me.

Concerning the first date, both she and I would decide where would be most appropriate and fulfilling to spend. Once we choose something, we will try to make the most of it. If it was dinner at a restaurant, we would simply eat dinner and have a good conversation. If it were a movie, we would watch it. If it were a walk, it would be long and scenic, and with a good conversation. If we were at either my house or hers, we could simply watch TV or a movie, have dinner, use the computer together, listen to music, play a game--computer, video, board, or otherwise--"the sky's the limit", as long as it was something we both agreed upon. Whatever we'd do, I would treat her with the upmost respect. Again, to me, women are human beings to share experiences with and treat with kindness, intelligence, sensitivity, and respect.
