About Me
Seemingly essential statistics: I have a full-time job. I have a car. I don't live with my parents. I'm single, and have never been married. I don't have any children. I don't have any pets, but I do have a plant that is thriving quite nicely.
Otherwise, I'm a socially-adept, mildly neurotic, pop-culture geek. I have a love/hate relationship with the movie and music industries. I enjoy words more than just about anything, and love to write. I enjoy people with extensive vocabularies that don't use them in an attempt to impress or belittle others. I really like board games. If you play Scrabble we should at least be friends. I watch a fair amount of sports and occasionally play video games. I don't read as much as I would like to, because my attention span isn't well suited for it. Eating is one of my favourite things to do, notably, anything with cheese and/or bacon. I am actually a pretty fair cook, and I can bake a little too (brownies from scratch, anyone?).
Specifically... Movies: Anything by Wes Anderson (Rushmore, Royal Tannenbaums, Life Aquatic), Alfred Hitchcock (North by Northwest, Psycho), Coen Brothers (Miller's Crossing, O Brother Where Art Thou), Jim Jarmusch (Mystery Train, Broken Flowers). Recent movies that I enjoyed: 500 Days of Summer, The Informant, The Brothers Bloom, and Dead Snow. I also like Westerns, Kung Fu movies, Blaxploitation movies, and horror movies (but not Saw/Hostel, or any of those torture movies). Music: Pavement, Pixies, The Clash, Phoenix, Metric, Blur. Alt/indie-rock, brit-pop, techno (Chemical Brothers), house, drum'n'bass (Aphrodite, LTJ Bukem), some rap (Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul), some jazz and swing as well. Very little country. And NO NICKLEBACK. TV: I like a lot of old shows like Hawaii Five-Oh, Soap, and X-Files, but I also like Lost, 30 Rock, Battlestar Galactica, Futurama, and the Office.
Holy crap, this is boring. I should really re-write this so I at least sound moderately interesting, or at the very least, somewhat fun.
I'm looking for a lady that's fun and intelligent that can hold a conversation with me. Hopefully we will share the same dry, witty, sarcastic sense of humour. I go off on some pretty strange tangents sometimes, so you'll need to keep up, or at least appreciate my lunacy if we're going to get along. I've never really been one to get dressed up and go out to an art gallery, but things like that are intriguing to me, so I'm definitely up for it. My pictures are all ridiculous. Sorry about that. They are about a year old, and I can honestly say that I haven't changed since they were taken.
First Date
Going for some sort of beverage or food in a place we can talk, whether it be a quiet coffee shop (not a timmy's), or a good pub with a great juke box. I don't like bar bands so much as they're usually too loud and I can't hear anything that's being said, which is pretty key when getting to know someone.
