Here are some things that may tell you a bit about me, in no particular order:
*Some of my passions include scuba diving and photography. And traveling around the world when I can. I've been to every continent but Antarctica, and love adventure and new experiences and cultures. But I also like to chill at home and have a good meal or watch a movie.
*I have amazing friends I've known for 20 years + that I trust implicitly. I understand relationships and trust and believe intimacy at all levels gets only better with time.
*I do not play games, nor am I interested in material things and the bs of our commodity rich and disposable world. I want to connect to someone real who "gets" me and with whom I can build a lasting relationship.
*I do have a 2-year old, who lives with me. I adore her, but that does not mean I am not actively engaged in the rest of my life.
*I am a very affectionate person. If I like you, I am very kissy and huggy.
*I think the capitalist system we have in place is problematic and creates sharp divisions of class. I know it won't go away. But I believe in regulating it and responding to the gross inequity in our society.
*I'm really not on a soapbox.
*I can dance all night and drink mojitos and laugh at the world.
*I have eclectic tastes in music; currently my CD player holds found Joss Stone, Lakme, Annie Lenox and the Black Eyed Peas.
*The last really good books I read were Fieldwork, The White Tiger, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, and now I'm reading The Graveyard Book and the new short story collection by Kelly Link. And my big comfort read from my childhood onwards is Tolkien.
*I am somewhat of a cardshark and can really enjoy card and board games on a rainy day; or a good film or a sci fi flick; or drinking wine while making a mushroom risotto...
*My career does not define me; but having said that I love my work and it is very intellectually and personally fulfilling.
*I am Italian, as in I speak it, and most of my family lives there.
*I do love to cook. I am a vegetarian, but am not judgmental about others' eating meat (unless it's endangered shark fin soup or something, in which case expect a lecture...:)

I have good friends I’ve known most of my life, I appreciate good films (ranging from Roman Holiday to Pulp Fiction), travel when I can (it keeps me grounded; I tend to prefer the get in there and meet the real people vs. the Conde Nast versions of a country and culture), love to read, have opinions and relish debates and late night conversations, appreciate good wine and espresso, love to cook, love to dance, tend to stay up later than I should pretty regularly, and would like some company exploring the city and our minds’ journeys and ramblings… I'm as complicated and as simple as everyone else.I don’t pretend to define a real human being in this little box, but I would like to meet someone with whom a certain synergy could happen, someone with whom I can try out a salsa class, or watch a bad movie on cable or a good movie on DVD, or read and argue about a book, or laugh at The New Yorker cartoons, or go scuba-diving, or try out a funky new restaurant, or spend the weekend in bed… You’re irreverent, really smart, passionate about _________, leftist politically (but not on a soapbox), affectionate (and have a healthy libido), not allergic to cats, not religious in any conventional patriarchal sense, and honest and not into game-playing. You have good friends and past relationships. You have the time and desire to explore a relationship...wherever it might lead...You understand that everything gets better with intimacy - sex, conversation, silence, roses smell rosier (ok, that was a joke…). You can hang out in a cafe or bar, drink Amarone or tequila shots, maybe dance all night, or read books for hours in bed... You appreciate NY (ethnic neighborhoods, museums, 20 languages on one subway car...), but need to get away to nature too (upstate woods, Amazon jungle, tropical oceans, Tompkins Square Park...) None of this is a 'laundry list'. If something sparks your interest, and you think we might connect on one or many levels, or maybe you just want to have a drink and see what happens, take a chance…

I'm open to almost anything...but I do believe in chemistry. I know sometimes you just meet a great person you might want to be friends with...but it takes an attraction and held breath and pulsing heartbeat to go further...
