About Me
My headline is Experiments with Truth. Let me explain its meaning: It's taken from the title of Gandhi's autobiography, "My Experiments With Truth". I'm sure that book is a political manifesto, written while in prison, about his plans to help the British quit India. But because I've never read it, I can instead imagine it's a book about how to deepen relationships. In every room.
Some bio: I'm 5'10", 155. I'm in my late 50's. I run (used to be a college athlete -- a hundred years ago). Lately I've been going to Red Rocks on Sundays to run the stairs; hike (did some 14ers this summer, too bad the season is over, otherwise I could say: want to take a stroll?), practice meditation (went to a Hindu Hootenanny over the weekend-- although they certainly did not call it that!).
People tell me I'm funny -- I respond, "Oh, I use to be funny" People think that's more humor. I work in a trauma field and maybe that's why my humor has taken a hit over the years. You'll have to judge this for yourself. Don't know what this says about me but I hope doesn't sound too weird: I taught my dog to play tic tac toe. Dog never loses. (You should challenge him to a game!)
Presently, as part of my work, I lead trainings for care-providers who serve in emotionally challenging fields. The goal is to heal-the-healers. It's most spiritual work and I'm blessed to get to do it.
Have traveled. (I worked in China -- at a nuclear power plant, how bizarre! -- and in France -- teaching architecture); have designed furniture -- recently finished some very special etched glass panels. (If we connect you should check them out!)
The last words the Beatles spoke as a group: "Thank you, Guv'nor. I hope we passed the audition." Ditto
First Date
Whether it's a glass of wine or a coffee or a hike with our dogs, the goal is to find out if maybe, just maybe, we can be something great for each other, a person who can see our strength, our value when we are feeling none, see the possibilities of being a best friend, a lover, a believer in our potential. My favorite first dates have been cooking dinner together -- but that's easier to do when the woman and I have already known each other and very hard to do when encountering a stranger. I don't think movies make a good first date. Who wants to sit in the dark watching a screen, where there is no chance to learn who this other person is.
