I'm a liberal Democrat who loves politics and sports...Hook 'em Horns! I also follow the Dallas Cowboys, the Mavericks and professional tennis and golf. (Truth is, I can watch any sport except bowling and hockey....and I'll even watch those if they're in the Olympics.)

Wine with dinner is great, but sometimes I just prefer a mixed drink. I love to drink socially, but I hate over-imbibing (me or anyone else.) Know your limits. I love coffee...but I don't care for Starbucks (no hidden "chain vs. local" grudge here, I just always drink my coffee black, and theirs has always been too rich/bold for my taste.)

Music: Bob Dylan, The White Stripes (and any other band with Jack White in it,) John Mayer, Dionne Warwick, Stevie Wonder, Nat King Cole, Streisand, Garland, the Rat Pack, Simon & Garfunkel, Carole King, Gordon Lightfoot, Herb Albert & The Tijuana Brass, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Amy Winehouse, Duffy, Joss Stone, Neko Case, Led Zeppelin, Arcade Fire, Beatles, Neil Young, The Rolling Stones, CCR, Elton John, Lucinda Williams, Willie Nelson, Joe Ely, Johnny Cash, Eric Johnson, Eric Clapton. I sometimes listen to Opera and I'm especially fond of Italian arias....and Brazilian or Latin music. This list is overkill, but I just couldn't make myself stop. When the radio is on, I'm usually listening to KGSR or KUT.

I love the sun and those really HOT temperatures during Austin summers....and I love being at the pool. Much prefer hot weather to cold...but I can tolerate cold weather in two day increments. Water skiing-good, snow skiing-bad. Lightning storms are thrilling...as long as I'm safe indoors, otherwise, not so much. Cooking is fun...for example: I can do this really great shrimp thing on the grill and a basil-pesto-salmon thing in the oven. I adore sweets of any kind...but my waistline doesn't. Best restaurant in town: Austin Land and Cattle. Whole Foods at 5th & Lamar is where I usually pick up dinner.

I probably watch too much television (especially when you include sports,) but "24" is the only show that I watch regularly (season to season, start to finish.) I mostly watch cable news (MSNBC or CNN...but never, never FOX News.) I like Meet the Press, 60 Minutes, SNL, Letterman-Conan-Fallon-Ferguson, PBS programming in general, and I'll watch Everyday Italian w/Giada and The Barefoot Contessa whenever I stumble across them.

I love computers and problem solving....sometimes computers have problems. I enjoy looking at old photos and maps, National Geographic, Architectural Digest or photos that people have posted on Flickr. I could spend days going to junkyards, junk stores and antique stores or bookstores. I truly loved going to the beach when I lived closer to it....the most amazing stuff washes up if you're there on a regular basis to find it. I like incense and/or candles burning....but mostly in the winter. Other favorites: Christmas ornaments, Dia de los Muertos, Jack Nicholson movies, Austin City Limits Music Festival, seashells, walking downtown. My view of the Capitol...and the UT Tower.

I'm a city girl...but I can go to the country for a little while. I love the idea of going to the "country" in a foreign country. That's entirely different, like in PBS's "Spain...on the Road Again," with Gwenyth Paltrow and Mario Batali.

Things I don't like:
Emoticons...especially those "dancing" emoticons, the suburbs, traffic, the smell of roof tar or road tar. Scorpions, snakes & spiders. Scary movies, except for a select few. Eggs(unless they're scrambled and inside a breakfast taco with extra salsa.)

I hate to sleep....what if I miss something?
