Just in case you didn't know, Slainte Math means "Good Health" in Gaelic. It's an Irish toast, and I liked the way it sounds (SLAWN-cha maa). Yeah, I try to keep in touch with my Celtic heritage. :-D

I like to play unusual sports, like racquetball and rock climbing. I do some martial arts, too, but I'm pretty rusty. I used to do a lot of theatre, performing onstage, but nowadays most of my time is spent behind the scenes, building scenery or designing lights for local productions. It's a lot easier to manage my time than when I was onstage. Also, as a good (Irish/)Scottish man, I play the bagpipes. I've only picked them back up 6 months ago after 5 years away from them, but it's amazing how quickly everything came back to me.

My job is web development for a state health agency, so I spend a lot of my day on the computer. Yes, I'm a full-fledged geek, and proud of it, thanks very much. It does help to be able to stop an alarm clock from flashing "12:00" over and over again. Of course, I'm totally screwed if I want to set the alarm, but that's another matter. ;-)

I have a three-year-old dog, a red-nosed pit bull who is one of the sweetest dogs I've ever had. I've had her since she was about ten weeks old, so I've been able to train her pretty thoroughly, even if she doesn't listen very well at the dog park. But she loves to chase the tennis balls, though, and I usually try to make it out there a few times a week so she can run herself stupid for a while. She appreciates it, I can tell. At least, the times she isn't off in the corner of the park, chewing on her ball.

For a first date? I suppose just dinner or coffee to talk and get to know each other. I like coffee shops that have live music in the evenings, so one of those would be fun. For other dates, I think going to a comedy show would be fun, and I really enjoy Second Saturday and going to Farmers' Markets. You know, just find something interesting going on and go with someone. :-)
