| | On Halloween, Ben and I went to see the witches’ parade. Arriving a bit early we meandered downtown, bought candies and chocolate for “Trick o‘Treating” and later strolled on the beach with many of the little witches. High tide was near. The sea was choppy and frosty waves pounded the beach. Menacing clouds gathered far on the eastern horizon foretelling the arrival of a bad storm. But here, the skies were calm and clear. Long shadows, formed by the setting sun, were everywhere. We walked and talked when a little witch interrupted and declared in a serious voice, “I am from the lower earth where witches are strong and magic is everywhere.” Then she zapped us with her wand and retreated to her mother. I laughed and called after her, “Thank you witch. Happy Halloween to you.” |
