About Me
In My Life, probably the best song ever written, and written by thee best band called The Beatles, in my opinion.....
That would be to some degree as to how to describe myself.
I have been a vanner since late 1974, so what is vanning? Well since the mid 70's when I traded in my green '74 Dodge Charger for a van that my girlfriend at the time said I was crazy. After I built the interior and she "discovered" the benefits, she came around. Vanning is the same as custom cars, you fix them up, meet at functions either for a day or a weekend and have a great time with people who enjoy doing the same thing. And most events are setup to donate to charities if there is a profit. Vanning events still happen today but on a smaller scale.
You hear a tune, a guitar riff, a melody, a particular chord and it tugs at your heart of a past event, place or person that you have not thought about for some time. It does not matter as to what geandra of music, to me it is type that "you" like that matters the most.
As I still struggle with the chords on a guitar attempting to learn the basics of it, music is very close to my heart. It helps to put your life in order I believe by way of showing you how to get through the day.
My definition of love is, a Grace Kelly movie with Cary Grant titled, To Catch A Thief, directed by Alfred Hitchcock. And you can't forget Humphrey Bogart & Ingrid Bergman in Casablanca, "Louis, I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship." Then you have Henry Fonda in The Grapes of Wrath on how he did everything to support & feed his family during the Great Depression, having to leave a family member during the trip west, doing whatever it took to get through each day. And of course each Christmas season, Jimmy Stewart & Donna Reed in, Its A Wonderful Life by one of the great directors, Frank Cappra. My late parents who had a May-Oct romance, lasted just over 60 years and then both passed away within 8 days of each other.
Has the lady that I was "destined" to be with already crossed my path, maybe, did I realize it then? Well if I did I would not be on this site now, right? I am sure there are some of us who had a long ago girlfriend who for all intents & purposes was our soulmate. Only now do we see that she was. Have some of you for whatever reason had a past love pop into your head and wonder what has happened to that person? Recently I had the great fortune to re-connect with a lady for whom I had feelings but we did not connect back then over 30 years ago. Her and 2 of girlfriends & I were mates, we hung out, went to the drive-in, a pub or for dinner. This recent meeting has stirred my memory, of great times the 4 of us had back in the mid 70's. I shall treasure that time. So can a guy be just mates, platonicly with a lady? For sure as presently I have a few that are just pals for over 30 years.
As I mentioned earlier, music is big in my life so that you already know my taste of what I like, here is what won't be played on my radio. Country, Western, Celine, Kenny G, and any crooner with a first name of Michael, i.e Buble, Bolton etc. But, I would not say no to a little of Frank, Dean"o", Tony, Sammy or big band swing music from the 40's that our parents loved.
I don't have a problem with anyone who has a pet(s) or mature children.
p.s my weight says average so is 167lbs = average?
