Hey. I'm Brian. I like driving right next to big trucks on the freeway, so that people behind me can't pass me. Because I'm a leader.

I'm also newspaper reporter. I grew up on the West Coast and went to school out there, then worked at papers in Dallas and Boston before landing here. I'd like to go to law school or get a masters eventually, but for now, I'm pretty happy. It's fast-paced and it requires a lot of "are you serious?" introductions.

I used to run competitively, though now I just do it in my spare time. It'll always be a part of my life, and I plan to get back into some races pretty soon. I also like playing tennis and basketball, but I still can't really place a backhand or drive left. Or tie my shoes, or open doors.

I love Celebrity Jeopardy. And books: all things McCarthy, In Cold Blood, lots of short stories, everything dismissively called pop economics, East of Eden. Also, the Black Stallion and the Sulky Colt.

Also, I really, really want a dog -- or to work with them. I grew up with a beagle and still share many of his mannerisms, such as growling if you touch my food. (Just kidding, kinda.)
