I believe that life is a constantly evolving journey in which we all seek to find the particular balance that works best for us as individuals.

Life is also far too short to waste eating Beer Nuts and watching American Idol.

I should mention that I am currently in the process of moving into Chicago. I've enjoyed my time in the suburbs, but my office is now downtown, and I don't want to be one of those people who spends half of their lives commuting. The goal is to be all settled in some time during the spring of 2010.

I tend to keep myself fairly busy - working, following the arts scene, traveling, and experimenting in the kitchen. I love new adventures, terrible jokes, and intelligent conversation.

Professionally, I'm quite fortunate. I have a great career in the financial world that allows me to work (and make a difference) with some wonderful Not-for-Profit groups. I serve on the board of directors of an arts organization, and volunteer at a few others to assist them in making the most of their fundraising efforts.

I am completely content hanging around my house baking cookies, but I'm just as likely to go out and catch live theatre/concerts/baseball games/fundraising events around the city. I also love finding new hole-in-the-wall restaurants with fabulous food, and taking long walks through the city on summer nights.

I enjoy traveling, and am doing more of that these days as my son is now a teenager. Makes getting out of the house a lot easier, you know.

All in all, I live a bit of a charmed life. We all have our moments of working too hard, getting caught up in the hustle and bustle of the everyday grind, and forgetting to smell the roses - but as long as we stop to look at all of the great things we've been fortunate enough to achieve, then it's all worthwhile.

I'm looking for someone who is intelligent, funny, and confident. Clever and sophisticated don't hurt, either. But let's be honest - all of that is just no fun if you can't let go, get your hands dirty, and laugh until you can't breathe every once in a while.
