About Me
My guiding life philosophy is Dylan's "He not busy being born is busy dying." I also like, "Act, don't react" (anon) and "Are you a better person with him or without him?" (Dear Abby) I love NYC and all it has to offer. I'm a teacher and a writer, with a self-published collection of poetry and a CD of poetry and music. Will soon be shopping another collection to publishers. I tend to gravitate to those in music and the other arts, but that's certainly not a requirement! There are fascinating, wonderful people in every profession. (O.K., I'd stay away from hit men and...hmm...New Jersey politicians?) I love to walk just about anywhere in the city - Battery Park, Central Park, The Village, Chinatown. I listen to jazz in Harlem and rock and roll, blues, even Irish session music, when and where it's available. Like to go to an open jam in my neighborhood. I love the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and have a membership there. You don't have to love it, but I'd like a chance to show you some of my favorites in the collection. I like movies - usually prefer to watch them at home, but I'm very flexible about things like that. I love baseball and am a staunch Yankees fan. Went to some Cyclones games in Coney Island this year, too. I read every day, and have a newly acquired addiction to the NY Times (and now the Daily News!) crosswords. I love to travel - haven't done very much lately - but hope to do more. I'm looking for someone who can have fun but be serious. Someone with intelligence and self-awareness. Someone open to new experiences. Someone who's both physically and emotionally passionate. Someone who can appreciate art, music, good food, the city. (Someone who will ignore the fact that I'm rushing through this and not writing in complete sentences). I'm not interested in what you own or how much money you make. Not looking for someone to take care of me. And please...be over your last love. I say this, not to be cruel, but from experience. The guy in the photos is my best friend's husband. (married for twenty years). She's taking the pictures. The dog is my daughter's. We're good friends.
First Date
First date: Almost anything in the city that's quiet enough for conversation. Coffee (in my case, tea). Drinks at some place where we could talk. Lunch. Dinner. A walk. The Met.
