I've been in Ottawa a couple years now for school, and the city has grown on me a lot. Most of the time I'm a sweater wearing academic type. I've just started further grad studies in Anthropology. School keeps me busy, and while I love teaching, writing, and research, I'm trying to laugh about it all and enjoy life without worrying too much about the destination.

Most days of the week I'm curled up in a coffee shop reading. Still, although I'm quite busy, I escape from student land with frequent bike rides, yoga adventures, pot lucks, hiking, movies, and bread baking. Cooking is one of my ways of relaxing, often with tofu, although I'm a failed vegetarian. I'm learning to cross country ski, and I am looking forward for the snow to get back into the Gatineaus.

As far as music, Latin American protest music makes it to the top of the list. i.e. Mercedes Sosa or Silvio Rodriguez. Otherwise, my current play lists includes in no particular order Serena Ryder, Billy Bragg, Janis Ian, Tracy Chapman, Belle and Sebastian, Dan Bern, Les Cowboy Fringants, Craig Cardiff, Dixie Chicks, The Moldy Peaches, and Leonard Cohen.

What am I looking for here? Life's good, busy, and full, I'm hoping to connect with for someone special to explore and share things with. I'll keep an open mind and see who comes along.
