About Me
After thoughtfully reading dozens of profiles in "my matches," I concluded that I should edit my profile. In fact I received a message that recommended I tell more about who I am than about my accomplishments.
WHAT I HAVE LEARNED FROM PLENTY OF FISH:
Seems like many of you are looking for the same woman. She has good looks and brains. She is athletic, fit and trim. She is attentive, affectionate, sensual, sexy. She carries no baggage from the past, has no unresolved issues with/about men, and she will not add any drama to your life. She enjoys most, if not all, of the same outdoor activities that you enjoy, and if you happen to have a dog, a Harley, a dune buggy, a sailboat, or a muscle car, you would like her enjoy those too. Some of you have children and grand children that you adore, and of course you want her to love them too. I get it!
I sure wish I could read what the other women on this site are wriiting about themselves. Does anybody know if that is possible?
ABOUT ME:
I am a warm, kind, honest, attentive, affectionate, compassionate giver. I am realistic and down to earth. I am a good listener. I like to cuddle, am touchy/feely and I have been told I give great hugs. I think that is because I believe in the healing power of touch, and possibly because I have soft pillowy places. Unless I am hugging a stranger, I like to linger in the embrace, and breathe into it. I think I am sensual, and I am so out of practice with expressing that aspect of my being. It has been a while since the fire was stoked. I am certainly open to exploring that with the right person. I seem to remember that I enjoy long slow kisses. To quote the Pointer Sisters, "I want a man with a slow hand, I want a lover with an easy touch, somebody who will spend some time, not come and go in a heated rush." Although, a heated rush does sound exciting, as long as it leads to something slow and meaningful.
Sail boats are nice. I enjoy being on the water. I have never pictured myself on the back of a Harley, in a side car, hmmm, perhaps. This is going to eliminate me from a lot of matches. I am a people person, not an animal person. I have been known to make friends with a few dogs and cats if the need be. I don't want one sleeping on my bed, humping my leg, or licking my face. I dont' like pet hair everywhere. I apologize to all the pet lovers. It is not my thing.
I am independent, to a fault. I'd rather figure it out and/or do it myself than ask for your help. I am teachable though. I know that a man wants to feel needed.
You would not call me athletic, I walk for exercise. With the right company and encouragement, I'd walk more. I need a little push in that direction. It would be wonderful to have a personal trainer who would push me to work out. I have not given up on that as a goal. I know the value of strength training, I'm just not doing it yet.
Hiking is a possibilty, I enjoy being out in nature. I have camped a time or two. I imagine it could be fun with a group of good friends, as long as I am not the one who does all the work. Playing golf has always sounded attractive. I do enjoy watching a round of golf on TV. If it is down to the play offs or final championship game and someone else is interested in watching it on TV, I can get into a game of basketball, football, or baseball, in that order. Attendance at the games is optional. Last time I went to an NFL game I got mad because the people in front of me stood up every time there was an important play and I could not see very much of the game. I decided the view was better from home. Now if you have access to one of those executive boxes, let's talk about going to a game.
I have never learned to swim, although I might yet, or ski. I am not much of a dancer and I would not object to taking lessons from a good teacher. OK, this is IMPORTANT. I am a fragrance-free person. I don't wear perfume. I don't like being close to people who wear strong fragrances. My definition of a strong fragrance, is when I inhale and the taste of the fragrance gets in my mouth, it is too strong. I am compatible with mild fragrance in soaps, shampoos, aftershave and colognes.
AS FOR MY APPEARANCE:
I'd say that I am one who "cleans up nicely." I have a reasonably good sense of color and style for my body. I have short stubby legs with tiny purple veins that resemble road maps, so I don't show off my legs. I know that high heels are sexy, but I will not wear uncomfortable shoes to please any body. My complexion does not like the sun, and when I get hot, I turn beet red. It is not attractive. So I don't do surf and sand, or poolside, until sunset. So I am short, pale and freckled when I would prefer to be tall and tanned with beautiful, long shapely legs.
INTERESTS AND TASTE IN MUSIC:
I love movies, plays, and musical theater. I love to sing, so I prefer songs with lyrics I can understand and sing along with. I like the pop songs of the 50's, 60's, and 70's. I like classical music and soft rock. The kids call it elevator music. I sometimes think I could acquire a taste for some opera. Maybe it is the influence of the movie Pretty Woman. I like small doses of jazz, reggae, folk songs and Country and Western. I enjoy art exhibits. I love books. I have them all around me. I can't keep up with the reading, so whenever possible, I like to listen to audiobooks on CD. I read mostly non-fiction, spiritual psychology, self-help, metaphysical books. I occasionally enjoy fiction or an autobiography/memoir. If I'm driving in my car alone I like to listen to books or to Oprah Radio. I like the interviews and get a lot of recommendations for new books from listening to Oprah. I am turned off by regular talk-radio shows. Rather than inform, they just want to stir up controversy to increase the ratings. I am also turned off by so called "reality shows" on TV. They are too contrived for me. One exception is Dancing with the Stars. I like good dramas and good comedy. Anything written/produced by David E. Kelly, Steven Bochco, or Aaron Sorkin wins my favor. I recently cancelled my cable TV, however, because I realized that TV is one of my biggest time wasters. I do still rent and watch movies.
My favorite pastime is going to conferences, workshops, and seminars. I can't get enough. I love learning new things and listening to motivational speakers and authors. It is what I want to be when I grow up.

First Date
For a first date, I 'd want to make it low key, low pressure. Meet for coffee or lunch and just see how it feels to be together. I envision learning a lot about each other via e-mail and/or phone conversation before meeting face to face.
