I am new to Chicago, and have yet to take in what Illinois, and the City of Chicago has to offer. I am an independent contractor working and traveling in and out of the USA. I think first dates should be spent getting to know one another, so that you know whether or not you want to invest any more time on a second or third date. Ideally, a place that is quiet enough to talk, yet active enough to enjoy dining and music if we want. If we enjoy the food and the music, then we would have the wee hours of the morning to talk. If the chemistry is right, none of these things would really matter anyway. A quiet stroll down the promenade, or a drink at a secluded pub would still fit the bill.
