About Me
"Sweet and freaky" is how a friend once described me. I'm the classic "boy next door" on the outside but a bit wild on the inside. And yeah, I know people hate "mirror pics" but I took that one right before going on a bike ride this spring, so it's pretty recent.
I sometimes have a strange sense of humor, but I'll try to keep it under control when needed. Unless it could embarrass children then all bets are off. Speaking of children, I love them. Not in a Michael Jackson sort of way but in the manner of grandparents (spoil them and have fun). I don't mind if you have kids. I have one of my own. She's 13 years old and is sadly beyond recovery after having been raised by me and inherited quite a few of my traits. Not necessarily all good ones. But she did get the funny bits.
I'm pretty shy but once I get comfortable, I open up and you'll wish you could shut me up. I'm big on affection (giving and receiving), so you should be OK with that. But it's not all about sex...I really love kissing and am quite a good kisser if I say so myself.
I'm a pretty smart guy. A little on the geeky side, but not too much. No black horn-rimmed glasses or pocket protector. Just work in the technology field and like to read science fiction and fantasy. And history, philosophy, thrillers, etc. And Stephen King & Neil Gaiman. But I'm not albino skinned from lack of sunlight. I do have a decent tan if I say so myself (even if it is somewhat of a farmer's tan).
I like jogging and biking (have done a couple half marathons, a century ride, and ridden the entire Katy Trail). I'm in decent physical shape, but could stand a little bit of tone. I like watching Cardinals baseball, but I'm not a huge sports fan.
I grew up in the middle of BFE in southwest Arkansas. As such, I don't much care for rodeos, twangy country music, NASCAR, or professional wrestling. Don't worry my family tree forks appropriately and I don't have much of a southern accent. Other than an occasional "y'all".
I like curves (but not mandatory). Think Pamela Anderson or Anna Nicole before she got weird and had that show on E! network. Lindsay Lohan prior to taking on the Kate Moss bodystyle. I like any color hair as long as you have hair. Just not too much hair. Unless you remove it now and then (I'm bald, but that's because I shave it). Any voice is fine, just don't sound like Fran Drescher. Hopefully you like to cook or eat out often. Or don't mind TV dinners and cereal. (Yes, I can cook, especially grill, but it's not something that's at the top of my list of abilities.) If you enjoy movies as much as I do, we'll get along great as long as you don't talk during the movie, otherwise I might get a little cranky. Unless I've already seen the movie, then I might provide commentary (along the lines of Mystery Science Theater 3000 - you know?). You should like The Simpson's, Family Guy, and other reality shows. Seriously, someone who is intelligent, funny, patient, affectionate, kind, sexy, loving, friendly, sure of herself, and open to new experiences. And I'm really not looking for a Pam Anderson clone...just take care of yourself and be in decent shape. A mutual attraction is very important, but that doesn't mean I am looking for a movie star or model.
I'm not one for endless e-mails - I would like to get together for dinner/drinks and see if we have chemistry. And no harm / no foul if we don't click. I get that. Just be honest and say so....I'd rather have honesty than stringing out something that isn't going to work.
Also, I don't like sending e-mails that say "Wow - you're hot!". But it's a little weird saying "I really like what you say in your profile...I think we have a lot in common" when your profile is practically empty. Yes, it's hard writing this stuff and takes time, but don't you think it's worth it? A little effort goes a long way! And spell-check is your friend.
Now to use the ancient wisdom shared in "The Secret", here's my positive visualization of our future (which is guaranteed to make it come true, right?): We truly enjoy each others company and spend as much time together as we can. Yes, having friends and doing things outside our relationship is important, but we have so much fun together we don't want to be apart. We don't have all the same interests, but that is fine as we enjoy sharing our passions with each other. We love having deep discussions while laying in bed about a wide range of topics, when we're not occupied with other activities! We enjoy sharing things we learn with each other, whether they be really interesting TED Talks (Google it) or something we've read. We aren't particularly religious, but we appreciate the beauty of the universe and live ethical lives, and try to surround ourselves with like-minded individuals. We find ourselves laughing a lot...mostly at the folly of others, but quite often at ourselves as well. We are deeply attracted to each other and can't imagine being with anyone else. We take a vacation outside of the US every year to expose ourselves to different cultures and experience amazing activities (such as climbing Kilimanjaro, visiting the Nazca Lines in Peru, and other sights off the beaten path).
If you made it this far, congratulations! I hope you laughed a little! Additional info available upon request. And don't be afraid to make that first move....you might be surprised with what you find.
First Date
Typically I prefer a simple dinner/drinks to get to know one another and see if there's chemistry. However, I'd be open to more unusual first dates if my date is up for it, say biking on the Katy Trail, going for a walk in a park, or doing some geocaching. "What's geocaching?" you say? Probably easiest if you just Google it! Trust me...it's actually pretty fun!
