About Me
I dissolve in hot dreams of our love where ancient hurt was love & vast whispers sing of tragic romance Has synthetic death recalled sad shadows? Dry is my tongue and he is my water Come rain in me! ~2001
I'm a singer who writes her own songs but has been unsuccessful at acquiring the skills necessary to accompany myself i.e. I don't practice my guitar.(Poor baby's strings have only been changed twice.) I just started to go back to school last spring, but have yet to declare a major bc my school does not have screenwriting as a major. A few of my dreams are to graduate from college and be a successful screenwriter, filmmaker, and singer/songwriter. I would also like to find a way to help people especially those with mental disabilities which sometimes leads to homelessness or substance abuse problems. Over my head with that though. The only thing I know I'm talented at and have received great feedback about is my singing. I'm a little more shy when sharing my stories. I sing jazz, blues & folk with a unique style to my sound. I would say I'm different than most girls, but not quite sure how good that is. I tend to be very open and honest about myself and have actually been censored by a couple guys just for being real. I don't pretend to be perfect and find it nauseating when all I meet are painted faces and people in masks. I dress depending on my mood, sometimes leg warmers, arm warmers, lace gloves on occasion... today I'm preppy...lol. Winter makes me a little more tame. Not that clothes matter, but I don't want to embarrass anybody by being too loud. Also, I have 3 facial piercings, but think I look respectable. I would say I'm pretty unique but I think we all kind of are.
Music? Anything that doesn't give me a headache. I'm pretty picky, not on style but on quality. Not into rap, pop-country, screaming, and most things on the radio. Fave era would be the 50's. Fave song is Roy Orbison's "Crying" His vocal range is off the charts. I wish I could sing like him. My fave band is Mazzy Star/Hope Sandoval. 30 seconds to Mars is in my cd player right now. My fave singer is Billy Holiday. I own all of the Led Zeppelin cds but haven't played any of them in years. My fave Beatles song is "I'll get you", which I'm sure most of you haven't heard. But I got to say my Achilles heel is cheesey 80's pop like in the movie Valley Girl. Hmm... always interested in hearing something new. Any suggestions?
Movies - Fight Club, Down in the Valley, anything withe Edward Norton ... Don't really like romantic comedies or musicals or any movie just shelled out to consumers to make a quick buck and soon be forgotten about.
I'm looking to talk to guys ages 21 to 34, but only really date guys 23 to 32. I'm artistic and musical and am looking for the same, but also wouldn't mind somebody a little different to open my eyes to new things. I drink too often and have been known to indulge in a good veggie dish like tofu pad thai, pizza, pasta, middle eastern, ethiopian or a veggie sandwiches. So, I'd like to shape up a little, maybe gain an exercise partner. Def would like someone positive to push me to be a better person and of course I'd reciprocate w the cheer leading. Just looking for something and somebody real. I'm also looking for something more regular and steady than I have had in the past. I don't have too much time, so it would be nice if the guy lived nearby and could hang out on a whim. I don't have a car, so he would probably need to have one. I'm looking for dating, but if the right guy comes along, I would be happy to settle down a little bit. I've recently been in open relationships, but that can wear down on both people's hearts. Also, it would be nice to have somebody to wake up to on occasion but def NOT have a live in boyfriend. I've never had one and I'm not ready for it now. So, if I could meet somebody who actually respects me and doesn't just want to get in my pants, but has enough drive to do so, that would be great...lol.
But honestly I try too hard to please just for affection, so I am no longer going to settle for hook ups. Understand? I want the real deal. I do not want you to say "Hey sexy" in the first email to me. I took down my cop outfit pic bc I want to be taken seriously. I was sexy, though, I have to say..lol. Be real with me! have something to say! I will try to reply at least once if you are sharing even a small piece of yourself with me. WORD! (like I can get away with saying "WORD!"
First Date
I think it would be fun to have a painting party or something different and unique like getting pierced or tattood. However, if the date went bad, I'd be stuck w a permanent reminder. Maybe that's a second or third date option. I like coffee, I like drinks, but rock climbing or bowling would be more fun, especially since I am so not athletic at all and suck at knocking down pins. Surprise me! Let's do something that includes your passions. I would never own a gun, but I'd go to the range. I don't like going to the movies the first couple times I chill w a guy bc I need to be at a place where we can talk and something that involves action or activity is a plus. I want to be taken out for once. A picnic and a walk in the park perhaps while taking pictures sounds ideal. Then a race to see who gets the better swing. (You may get there first, but I'll still get the swing!)I want to get to know you so share something special and true to you. I'm still waiting for that great date. Put the other guys to shame, lol!
