About Me
Hello world! According to POF, if I want to be successful and not waste my time doing this I must talk about my hobbies, goals/aspirations, what makes me unique, and my taste in music. So here goes...
I absolutely love camping. I don't do it often enough, though. I'm money at making campfires. I have two favorite camping spots in VA (don't steal them!) - Fort Story and anywhere along the Blueridge Parkway. I also play and watch sports. I'd rather play than watch. I play softball, flag football, and basketball. I used to play hockey. I'd love to learn rugby. Another hobby is reading. I used to read a lot of books, but now all I read is stuff on the internet. Sad, isn't it? My favorite authors are Kerouac, Hemingway, Kesey, Burroughs, Ginsberg, Burroughs, and Joyce. A little quirk of mine - I have to read something when I'm sitting on the tiolet (nice visual, huh?). Shampoo bottle, toothpaste, something, anything, I've got to have something to read. I have a phone book sitting on the back of the toilet in case of emergencies. I also love movies. I'd rather watch a bad movie than watch a good TV show. Dark comedies are my thing. Anything by Quentin Tarantino is great. Pulp Fiction was his best, but Inglourious Basterds was incredible as well. The scene where Brad Pitt pretends to be Italian with a hillbilly accent was hilarious! I also like anything with Frat Pack members in it - Talladega Nights, Anchorman, Dodgeball, Walk Hard, Zoolander, Old School, 40 Year Old Virgin, I Love You Man, Role Models, etc. I'm also a sucker for westerns and war movies. Spartans, prepare for glory!!!
My goals/aspirations are pretty simple. For one, I want to keep getting promoted. I enjoy leading and training. It's important to share what you've learned with the young guys and gals coming up. It makes your organization, and yourself, better as a whole. Another goal is to retire at age 50. So far I'm on target. I wouldn't retire in the sense of never working again, though. I'd still like to stay active with my own business, even something as simple as auto repair out of my own garage. Lastly, I'd like to get into Heaven. I'm not a Bible thumper or anything like that, but I figure if you had to choose between Heaven and Hell, I think Heaven just might be the better choice. There probably isn't any rock n roll in heaven, but I bet Jesus grilles some mean lamb chops.
What makes me unique? Hmmmm. I love jumping out of planes. The lower to the ground the more dangerous. 800 feet sounds good to me. I cut the exhaust a foot in front of my muffler. I don't think it makes my truck any faster, but it sure sounds good! I like playing video games with my oldest daughter. Man, it's a blast! Our favorite is Lego Batman. She HAS to be the Riddler every time. No one else is allowed to be the Riddler. Her rules :D Unfortunately, we don't get to play very often because she lives in Michigan. One more thing that makes me unique is that I made a Geico commercial money thing with eyes and put it on a shelf at work. I loaded the song onto my phone and play it when someone notices the money. Kind of dorky, but it gets a laugh everytime.
I like a little bit of everything. Don't you hate it when people say that? I'll be like, "so you like a little bit of everything, huh? Do you like punk?" They'll usually say no. If they do say yes, they usually can't name one punk band. Same for bluegrass, bebop, and the other less popular genres. So what they should really say is "I like a little bit of some forms of music". Just a little pet peeve of mine. I should say the same thing, though, because there are certain types of music I can't stand - pop and dance music. You know that dance rap with the 2nd grade lyrics? Yeah, can't stand that either.
That concludes my profile. Kind of long, I know, but now you've become better acquainted with a really swell guy named Scott.
First Date
I wouldn't want to do anything cliche, like dinner and a movie. I think pool would be relaxing and not too loud. I'm up for a live blues band any day of the week as long as I don't miss my bedtime :)
