Okay, first of all, I work nights as a safety service patroller for VDOT. Basically this means that I drive around on the interstate all night, doing motorist assistance, emergency lane closures for accidents, debris removal, and that sort of thing. It's the first job I've ever had where I actually enjoy what I'm doing, it's nice to be able to help people. Unfortunately, working nights has destroyed my social life completely. Especially considering that I work every Friday and Saturday night. Not many people can hang out at 6AM when I'm getting home from work and ready to relax. So, it would be nice to meet someone with a somewhat similar schedule, or at least someone that could deal with my work schedule and isn't going to dump me in a month or two because we don't get to see each other as often as they'd like.
So, about me. I like to travel, I've been to Europe 3 times, going back to Amsterdam again this coming November. I have to say, Amsterdam is my favorite place I've ever been, and that's not just because of the coffee shops and prostitutes. I could care less about the prostitutes(though the Red Light District is pretty unreal to see), I do spend quite a bit of time in coffee shops(and not drinking coffee) however. It's just an amazing city. I tend to talk about it entirely too much lately, I suppose I'm just looking forward to visiting again soon.
I'm also very much into music. Mostly heavy metal and some classic rock stuff, but I'll listen to just about anything. Some of my favorite artists are Opeth, Led Zeppelin, Nine Inch Nails, Pink Floyd, Danzig, Rush, Skinny Puppy, My Dying Bride, and Johnny Cash. As I said, I'm willing to give just about anything a listen though. I used to go to quite a lot of concerts, although lately I've been somewhat more selective and have only been to a few this year.
I spend most of my free time watching movies(sci-fi/horror/fantasy/comedy/action mostly), reading, or playing video games. I know, that doesn't really make me a very exciting person...unfortunately I don't have enough money to do all of the things I'd like to do. I've always wanted to try and hike the Appalachian trail, but taking 6 months off work to hike in the mountains is a pretty expensive thing to do I've discovered. I'm not getting any younger either, so this probably isn't going to happen now...oh well.
I'm also a member of something called the Free State Project(which you can check out at www.freestateproject.org). Without explaining all about it here, basically it means I'm planning to move to New Hampshire at some point in the next 5 to 10 years.

I've always been bad at first dates. I tend to do the traditional dinner and a movie sort of thing. Unless you've got a better idea? I'm always open to interesting suggestions.
