| | About Me |
| | How can I even begin to describe myself to someone who hasn't met me yet? I usually smell like soap ... the best perfume there is. I come across as articulate, intelligent, maybe a little too focused -- until we start relaxing and cracking jokes. It's that "librarian" look of mine. Trust me, there's more going on inside me than you'd expect.
I'm learning that POF profiles are a bit like the dance of the seven veils -- I'm not going to bother telling you I knit, because that's really not a guy thing. What I'd like to do is learn to ride a motorcycle -- well, "drive" one actually, but for whatever reason we don't call it that. I'm happy to be a passenger, haven't done that in years yet, but I'd love to feel the engine and be the one goosing the throttle. So, do you ride?
I cook with recipes, so if you're a natural cook, we're a great team. Or if you can choose a great wine for a meal or the perfect beer for pizza, we're set. And if you have a hankering for homemade English muffins -- well, they take a while, but there are plenty of ways to fill in the waits while they rise. My fascination with food has really slowed down as the years gain on me -- I like to keep in reasonable shape, and living to eat really doesn't help that. So, I eat to live. A reasonably healthy omnivore with an interest in seafood and a little sweet after. Along those lines, I jog recreationally with my dog, who really doesn't "get" it but he's learning. I may get back into swimming one day, maybe once there's a new pool in town. I love to find hikes in the woods, though as I am writing this in November, that's really more a summer activity. Beaches can be fun year-round, especially with the storms whipping the waves into massive, crashing waterfalls on the beach.
I like music -- really, in most of its forms. Okay, so I'm not crazy about country, but even those songs can be fun. Spanish guitar is fascinating (to watch, I don't play). I love rock & roll for dancing -- you know, the crazy, shake your body, do-we-think-we're-still-in-high-school kind of ridiculousness that is just so freeing. Someday I may explore more organized dance -- salsa? flamenco? ballroom? Who knows. There's clogging locally, so even that's a possibility. Ha. I can't believe I said that. Well, never say never, as the man said.
I have traveled quite a bit around the world, but these days stick pretty close to home. I'd love to hit the road again at some point, probably after my kids are grown and gone. Australia, France, Portugal, New Zealand, Italy, and perhaps India ... I've seen England, Japan, Canada, most of the US, and Brazil. I have a passport, and I know how to use it.
My days are filled with writing and creating, I really love what I do. I'm exploring more kinds of writing as I continue on this path. It's amazing how much you can express with the written word. I really like sharing the creative process -- perhaps you are a woodworker, an artist, a writer, a poet, or even a musician -- swapping stories of our joys is a great way to really understand each other.
Being 42 (you noticed that, right?) I've had plenty of life experience, up and down, good and bad. I'm to the point of going with the flow, finding my inner balance point that lets me take it all in stride. Call it "inner peace" if you like. It's a natural result of seeking to live in the present, to enjoy what I'm doing even if it's washing the dishes, and to start each day with a desire to explore, be it my inner world or the world around me. The future is full of possibilities, waiting to be discovered.
Thanks for making it through the whole thing! That's likely enough for you to know if you want to know more. If so, tell me something about you that didn't make it into your profile, or tell me a bit about one of those one-word interests you've listed, and let's get to know each other a bit. |

I admit to a fondness for being swept off my feet with charm and humor. Where it happens, and how, is less important. A stroll on the beach, perhaps, with a blanket to sit on and thermos of coffee to share as we keep chatting past time the stroll gives us. |
