A little about me. I grew up in Maryland but moved away when I was twenty five. I have also lived in Virginia, England, Scotland, Italy, Tennessee, Spain, Cuba, Japan and now Hawaii. I am guilty of being a workaholic but hope through this site to find a better balance in my life. My career is extremely important and I make a sufficient income so I’m not looking for someone to pay my bills. I’m six years away from retirement. I could retire earlier except I’m covering the cost of college for my two children so I need to work until they are off my payroll. I swim during my lunch hour Monday through Friday (as time allows) for exercise. I enjoy reading, movies, reality TV and quiet evenings at home. I also enjoy going out to dinner, concerts and the theater. I would prefer to be with one or two people vice a large number of people. I would never pass up the opportunity to hike, snorkel or bike. I do not like to cook, do not play a musical instrument, cannot carry a tune and am challenged in group sports. I would love to learn to sail and dance. I enjoy all kinds of music and my pets are my passion. I have two dogs and two cats in my household. I don’t smoke and have no interest in spending time with anyone who does. I need my personal time, would respect your personal time but would enjoy quality time together.

I get goose bumps when the National Anthem plays.
There is no greater peace than holding a sleeping baby.
I love yard sales and thrift stores. I only purchase used vehicles.
I’m lucky enough to have a son who drove eight hours all night from Knoxville to Southern Maryland to surprise me when I recently visited my parents.
I never park in the closest parking spot…I leave it for someone who needs it more than I do.
I hate to shop and have not been in a mall in years.
I push shopping carts back to their designated spots.
My happiest thoughts are of my children.
I grew up on the Chesapeake Bay and will never live anywhere again if I cannot see and be around the sea.
I pick up trash and put it in trash cans or the trunk of my car when I see it in parking lots.
I stop on sidewalks to smell the flowers and watch children.
Eating everything on my plate in no way helps starving children in Africa; it only adds inches to my waistline.
Grapes are better frozen.
I love spending the day driving around the island and stopping at the beaches.
I believe in mental health sick days.
The best part of my day is when I first open my eyes.
Nothing feels better than laughing until you cry.
I smile when a young person calls me “mam” …I’ve earned it.
I don’t believe in friends with benefits… I’ve tried and it screwed up a really good friendship.
The things that fill my house are memories not clutter.
I’d rather wash my car myself than drive it through a car wash.
