| | I think the best way to tell you who I am while remaining somewhat humble, is by explaining what I am looking for in my match. It's fair to say that you can make a connection between those same traits with myself.
Character is of utmost importance to me. First and foremost I believe strongly in the Golden Rule. Simple, elegant, and timeless but not followed often enough from what I can see. From something as simple as holding the door open for a total stranger to checking on your elderly neighbor's health, those are simple but revealing acts in my mind. So kindness and thoughtfulness is near the top of the list. Honesty is also a high priority for me and I'll settle for nothing less. I think a couple can overlook each others little flaws if they are at least honest about them. My match should also have a high degree of integrity. She doesn't need to be the most popular person in the crowd but her friends will have a deep respect for her. They know she will do the right thing under difficult circumstances. They also know she will be there if they call for help.
A couple other things I should probably mention here are religion and that unpleasant "p" word-politics. I am on the right end of the political scale and believe that those affiliations say a lot about a persons true values. While I am respectful of others rights and opinions, I think it would be a foolish to pursue any long term relationship if we weren't reasonably agreeable on the political thing. I also have strong feelings about my Christian beliefs and while I will date someone of a different denomination, they must be a practicing Christian or it simply will not work for me.
Those are the basic character traits I'm looking for and they are must have items. Not negotiable.
Ok, now for the fun stuff! If I haven't lost you yet, or bored you to tears, the rest should be more interesting reading. Yes I do have a fun side too.
As far as interests, activities, and hobbies go, I think it's important to have a few things in common here. While my passion for many years was long distance running, you can relax, I'm not looking for a marathon partner. But it would be great to have a partner who enjoys a long walk. Just about everybody has a bicycle nowadays and I'd love to have someone to explore the many wooded rural roads and trails in the area with me. How about a picnic along with that?
As far as cultural events, I'm open to trying most things, well except maybe ballet. I enjoy museums and history, and have been wanting to see the reenactments at Heritage Hill. But it's always more fun with someone along. Art has always been a mystery to me(can't draw a straight line with a ruler). So you'll have to educate me a bit on that one. But I'll give it a try if you want. Just be gentle with me if I ask some stupid questions about art. Jazz concerts are a favorite of mine, especially during the long winter months. UWGB has a great Jazzfest I've attended for years. As far as sporting events, I'll be frank with you. I'm not much for spectating or sitting in front of the TV. I've always been more interested in keeping active myself than watching someone else play(unless it's my kids). I also enjoy movies, theater, plays, small family get togethers, and brats on the barbecue. Oh, just about forgot to mention boating, a new interest of mine. I guarantee you haven't seen a boat like I'm building.

There has to be some potential for a lasting relationship there but it doesn't work to rush things. Been there. Also, don't let my description of an active lifestyle scare you. I am not the competitive type that has to prove I am faster, stronger, more skilled in order to boost my ego. I'm really just looking to have some fun like anybody else.
