I'm both a small town and big city girl who loves to travel the world. Interestingly, I probably love being at home even more. (I need both to be happy). I live by the beach and have a beautiful condo decorated with folk art from my travels. I enjoy lazy afternoons reading in the hammock on my balcony, going to the local farmer’s market, taking walks or bike rides on the island or making a picnic lunch for the beach. I feel very fortunate to live and work in a naturally beautiful setting and I take the time to enjoy it almost every day.

I’m a feminine gal who enjoys creating a relaxing and romantic home environment with breakfast in bed, candles, incense, and soft music. I have a group of friends I’ve been having over for dinner at my place for three years. Dishes that I enjoy cooking might include Moroccan Chicken or a Spanish tortilla or a nice piece of salmon.

I love the outdoors. I really appreciate the mountains, the ocean and natural beauty. I was in Kauai in April 09 and enjoyed hiking, snorkeling and just relaxing on the beach. I love the city life as much as I love the outdoors. You’ll find me in San Francisco for salsa dancing, ethnic dining, local theatre and dance performances, foreign film festivals and live music at Yoshis. I rejoice at finding the great hole in the wall Indian food place on Eddy and chasing down the best corn tamales.

I am fluent in the food and music of many other cultures, especially Latin and African. I’m looking forward to meeting a sweet, smart, strong guy who would enjoy a trip to Kauai or Madagascar, or a night of salsa dancing or hiking in Point Reyes or Mt. Tam. My guy will also enjoy cooking a wonderful meal together, dining by candlelight with jazz on the stereo, and a nice glass of wine. We share a great mutual passion for each other and for life. It’d be nice if we share some common interests at the start, however experience tells me that the person matters more than the interests – since we can always share new ones.

I love tranquil places such as Isla Holbox in Mexico (no cars), as well as the night life of Buenos Aires. I’ve stayed at Hiltons as well as little bungalows on the beach and enjoy both, though if the truth be told it’s the isolated places few people know about that excite me the most. I like to plan; however I am willing to tear up my itinerary at a moment’s notice if something better comes along. I strive to travel off the beaten path and connect with the locals.

I have a great sense of humor, an even keel and optimistic outlook, and I live my life with integrity and with intention. When it's important, I'll drop my plans to do something for a friend. Although I don't have kids of my own, I'm a "junior mom" to a young woman I have mentored for 8 years and am connected to her large extended family. My friends often say to me, “I tried to think of what you would do in this situation.” I am the type of person you can rely on and trust to be there for you.

15 years ago, I founded a nonprofit organization that helps educators create institutional change, which I head. My work is important to me, yet I have good work/life balance, take 6 weeks of vacation each year and work normal hours most of the time.

I am proud of my Jewish heritage. I am spiritual but not religious. I have taken personal development courses that have enhanced my life, relationships and spirituality. I understand relationships are about giving, appreciation and working together.

I seek a man who has a strong character, enjoys his work, has a positive disposition, and is fun and playful. The rest is up for grabs. Please have a lot of energy – like me- yet be able to relax and stay in bed all day Sunday just because you feel like it. Also, you understand that relationships are about working together and require skills as well as chemistry.

Update: Just booked a trip to the Dominican Republic with a girlfriend to a very off-the-beaten path area. Looking forward to snorkeling, hiking, horseback riding, hammocking, long walks on the beach, dancing merengue and speaking Spanish!
