About Me
...and just found my way back!!
*Well..I put in for a transfer to move back to Virginia last month and didn't get it it...No problem..then the guy that was going to take it backed out and I was next in line..So...I am going back to Virginia with my job....last day in NYC is 12/20....

I am the youngest of 7 children and my siblings are scattered literally from coast to coast! I have been quite the gypsy over the past few years and know the importance of having your space....but also want to have that special relationship. I must say that I don't subscribe to so many of the myths regarding men my age; I have no desire for "arm candy",I never wear a ball cap, I am not wowed by material things..they can be gone in a flash and don't really define you as a person and I also don't buy into the Hollywood ideal of beauty either; it is the everyday things that make a woman beautiful! I have spent a lot of time alone which also means that I do not need to be the center of attention or need to always be the center of YOUR attention either. Differences are not always obstacles either!Oh right..I love to kiss too...thought I would add that..LOL!!

Hmm..stating the type of woman you are looking for sounds so clinical..like shopping for snow tires :) Physical attraction may get your attention but that connection that two kindred spirits share will always keep it! One of the dangers of living alone for so long is that you become steadfast in your ways and change is not always easy to accept..but I am certainly willing to be open to change; in a relationship that give and take is essential. I am usually drawn towards the more fresh faced look and the overly made up "glam" look doesn't do much for me.I have a story about that that I will share with you someday..LOL!! The fact that I have never been married has sometimes been regarded with a certain level of suspicion..c'mon, you know what I mean..."what's wrong with him??" It has been a combination of not meeting that "right woman" and certainly not wanting to marry simply for the sake of keeping up with the Joneses.

I don't get to see my family a lot because of geography and value the time I do have with them. I never want to stop learning and feel it is never too late to try new things or further your mind. Material things don't mean a whole lot to me...had that and realized how unimportant and almost a burden they become..it is making the most of what you have to work with that is far more important.

I love to walk, I often jump onto the subway and travel into NYC just to walk the streets. I would love to get a bicycle and ride again..just need to find someplace a little safer to ride in than the heart of Queens! I have taken a lot of road trips since getting a new car last year and what a difference a decent sound system makes! I work nights right now which is rough on the social life so I just have to get away when I am off. There are things I would love to do but living where I do at the moment doesn't leave me a lot of space for me..so out the door I go!

I have been an aircraft mechanic for the last 20 years..took a sidestep into being a truck mechanic for a few years...but am back in aviation again. I am always keeping my eyes open for other opportunities. It never hurts to more than one skill in your pocket!

My last big trip was a train trip from Chicago to New York in 2002. I did the whole works, got a sleeper suite and dug every second of the trip. I could have flown but have always wanted to take a long train trip. I then took the Acela down to Washington D.C. to visit my parents and sister. THAT was totally cool..you would never think you were traveling over 100 MPH at times. It was so stress free and I would love to travel coast to coast!

I have met up with friends down at the Hard Rock Hotel in Orlando several times in the last few years. Great company, killer accomodations..what more can you ask for?

I would love to take a cruise as I have always been fascinated by ships. And a long bike trek would be great as well. As a former airline employee i used to fly a lot but don't really enjoy it any longer; too stressful! Some of the scenery in my cross country drives has been mind blowing! The Salt Flats in Utah..unforgettable!

I will read any genre really; if it is words on a page it will work! Let's see..I love technical books on guitars by Tony Bacon, suspense by Denis Lehane, any of Scott Berg's biographies, Titles that recently come to mind; The Breakers by Minette Waters, Dirty Work by Stuart Woods...

I enjoy Civil War history, naval history, aviation in general. As a mechanic, I do read a lot of technical material and actually enjoy it as more than "shop material". On the other end of the spectrum I loved the novels that Reeve Lindbergh wrote based on her family;both fiction in the form of "The Names Of The Mountains" and the novel about her mother's final days called "No More Words"
My top 3 favorite movies and why you should see them...

Hopefully my selections wouldn't take a lot of convincing;

The Shawshank Redemption
Good Fellas
Schindler's List

On the lighter side;

Monty Python And The Holy Grail
Midnight Run
This Is Spinal Tap

I LOVE Japanese monster movies; The original 1954 version of "Godzilla" is WAY better than the American version that you saw with Raymond Burr, the second series of Godzilla were pretty cool. I remember seeing the original "King Kong" at the library when I was a kid..remember the 16mm movie projectors?? Edit
The top 5 things I can't live without...

Decent coffee...I refuse to suffer the indignity of wishy washy coffee!
You can take the TV...but leave my CD's !!
New roads to travel
My well stocked book cases
A well broken in pair of blue jeans
My personal soundtrack...

On the rock side; The Who, Free, James Gang, Grand Funk Railroad, Glenn Hughes,The Allman Brothers Band,UFO, Yes,King Crimson, The Rolling Stones, Bad Company, Santana to name a few...

For jazz, give me Wes Montgomery, Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Jean Luc Ponty and Mahavishnu Orchestra

For soul....Tower Of Power, Average White Band, and let us not forget the Godfather Of Soul;

wingman1962 has 2 roses that can be sent.
