| | Hello, my name is Chris.
I remember when I was 8 years old, I went to visit a national park in Pennsylvania during one of the winter months with my father, to go and check out an amazing spectacle brought about by the blizzard of ’96. The scene was that of a waterfall, which had been completely encased in ice, due to high exposure from frigid northerly winds. It was quite a breath-taking thing to see, and it attracted visitors from all around, who would come and stand out on the frozen-over base, seeking a closer look. Seeing it as an opportunity to get some unique photographs, my dad and I thought it would be cool to venture out onto the ice and get a closer look, as well.
Before we set out to hop over the little white picket fence, which separated the tourists from the icy reservoir, my father handed me a long stick and instructed me to always be safe and give the ice in front of me a good solid poke before I stepped onto it, to make sure that it could hold my weight.
Unfortunately, at eight years old, the term ‘safe’ was just not in my vocabulary. Brimming with youthful machismo, and an uninhibited fascination of dangerous things, I scooted out from under my fathers wing, to get a closer -- closer look at the giant Icicle.
Sure enough, before I had the chance to think twice, I was waist deep in an unholy mass of freezing, ice-cold river water, and with every downward thrust came the promise of an untimely deliverance from goodness into the blistered hands of Hades himself. Fortunately for me, my father rushed in at the last moment to rescue me from a certain death. Ever since that day I have just learned to live life to the fullest and not give a second thought to what any one else may think. When it comes down to it, you just never know when your ticket will be called, so yea, you just gotta make the most of what you're given.
I'm pretty content just leaving a story here in my profile, but some other things about me:
I have a car. I have a job. I have an apartment. I love animals. I love to snowboard. I hold family, friends, acquaintances, and smiling faces at a higher regard than anything else in the world, because I am an altruist.
If you would like to contact me, please include something more than "yo?".. or "Whats up?".. cuz I'm not entirely sure that "yo" is a word, and "whats up" could be any number of things. Yea, and thats it. |
